Summary
Reki has a secret. While everyone around him manifested a soul mark in early adolescence, his neck remained perfectly bare. Like most others his age, he keeps his neck covered, letting people assume he has a mark under the collar he wears daily. It's rare not to have one; Reki is pretty sure he's the only one in his school--maybe the only person in Okinawa--to be markless, and he plans to carry the burden of that truth to the grave.
Then the new boy shows up at school: Hasegawa Langa. He's a curious mix of unselfconscious, aloof, and oblivious. But most startlingly of all, he doesn't wear a collar. And his neck is just as markless as Reki's.
