Moments to Treasure

Summary:

The Queen and Prince Consort are taking a vacation. The palace is basically empty. Simon and Wilhelm take the opportunity to just be husband and husband. Slow dancing in the sitting room before things start heating up, only to be interrupted.

Notes:

I don't know. This is just something that I threw together. I didn't really edit it, so if shit's wrong, let me know. Hope you enjoy!

Work Text:

The palace was quiet, nearly void of any living being. The queen and prince consort on a much needed holiday. Most of the staff had also been given some time off as well, seeing as only a handful of people would be left in case of an emergency (which was very unlikely).

There was soft music echoing through the empty halls. Following the sound would lead you to the sitting room on the far end of the palace, past the section open to the public, past the kitchens and the offices, finally landing between a few of the bedroom suites. The antique couches weren't quite as old here, the gilded moulding didn't exist out of the public eye. Save for the loftiness and extravagant portraits of late royalty, the room could pass for a normal living space in a normal home.

But this wasn't a normal home. This wasn't a normal room and neither were its occupants. The Crown Prince of Sweden had his arms around his husband's waist, swaying slowly and lazily to the soft music humming from the record player in the corner. It was rare when they were alone, though never really alone. There were a select number of guards situated around the grounds, but right now, it was just the two of them.

Just Wille and Simon.

Forehead resting against the other's, sharing breath. They hadn't even gotten dressed today, they settled on actually wearing the pajamas they owned having never actually worn them to bed, it only seemed right to wear them to sway in the quiet of the palace.

Simon lifted his chin just enough to close the distance between their lips. The kiss was soft and full of love, and followed by a nuzzle of their noses. Both had soft smiles on their faces and eyes closed just enjoying each other's company and touch, the sound of the other's breathing.

Wille's hands traveled under his husband's shirt, caressing the soft, warm skin. Pulling the man he loved ever closer. Simon's arms were loose around the prince's neck, one hand playing in the sandy locks that were still a mess from sex and sleep. Neither cared. If Simon was being honest, he thought it was adorable seeing the Crown Prince with sex hair.

They swayed until the record ended, finally coming back to the present. The walls of the sitting room fading back in as they took each other in, smiles growing fonder. Everything they had together was precious. It had taken a lot of hard work and pain to get where they are now. Wilhelm had done a lot of standing up to the queen and fighting to win the heart of Simon after he had betrayed the boy's trust. Not to mention convincing the royal family to estrange August.

After months of tireless effort following the release of the video, both boys had built up enough trust with each other to start anew, in private, but not in secret. Everyone at Hillerska knew. It took months after that before either of them really wanted to do anything more than making out. That was more than understandable when the entire world had seen their most intimate first time. The trauma that followed the sex tape ran deep for both of them. Eventually though, they found comfort in each other's bodies again. Seeking skin, seeking warmth and intimacy that you couldn't get any other way.

Each of them relearned the other's body, the spots that made the other moan, every divet across the other's chest, the dip of their hip, the placement of every birthmark, freckle and scar. Their second first time had been a ballet and a symphony and they took their time to learn the steps, to learn the notes and it was beautiful. Intimate. Loving in a way that it hadn't been before. Not that the real first time wasn't such things, but that time had been more lustful and then tainted.

Now, they stood together with no space between them in the palace, silver bands on their fingers, dancing to an old vinyl. Wilhelm felt so lucky to call Simon his husband, that the man kissing his lips gave him another chance and it had turned out well for both of them. Not to say there weren't bumps and hard times along the way. No relationship is free from troubles, but they worked through their personal problems, worked through the hardships the media threw at them. Together. If possible, they never went to bed angry at each other, if they had to stay up until the wee hours of the morning to talk it out, that's what they did.

Simon stood up on his toes, chasing his husband's lips as he pulled away. Wille had only wanted to look at Simme's beautiful dark chocolate eyes, but it seemed that his husband had a different plan.

"I love you," Simon whispered against his husband's lips before claiming them again. Before Wille knew what was happening, his feet were moving, being pulled forward by his gorgeous curly haired husband until there was a small thud and puff of air from his husband’s lips as his back hit the wall. The crown prince could only chuckle at their location. Pressed against the wall of the residential sitting room next to the portrait of his grandfather, Wilhelm shot forward slotting their lips together yet again, heat rising through his body. Sometimes it surprised Wille how much his body still craved the man in his arms after nearly twenty years together. How much Simon’s smile still made his heart race (in a good way). How much a simple touch or holding hands calmed his soul and eased his anxiety. Simon was the balm of Wilhelm’s life that he protected against all costs. That protection had caused fights with his mother, the queen, as well as defending his husband against the media and paparazzi, putting himself between his husband and the camera. He always did his best to keep Simon out of the spotlight when they snuck up on them, and he wasn’t prepared and Simon was always grateful.

Simon felt much the same way that Wilhelm did about their physical attraction. Always drawn to the crown prince like a magnet. Like a moth to a light, a flower turning to the sun. The feel of Wille's warm skin always soothed his thoughts. Together, they were whole. Two souls made into one.

Without warning, Wille put his hand over Simon's mouth, reminiscent of the first time they hung out at Wilhelm's initiation party at Hillerska. Their eyes stayed locked, Simon's dilated even more, there was hardly any brown left. Then he heard it, running feet and clicking nails getting louder and louder, then skidded to a stop just outside the door. Simon sighed into Wille's palm before he slid it to cup his cheek and placed a soft kiss to his swollen lips.

Knock knock

"We will be finishing this later," Simon said coyly as he unhooked his ankles and dropped his legs down, feet finally touching the ground again.

"We better," the prince whispered against his husband's forehead before planting a kiss there. "Come in, sweetheart," Wille called.

"Pappa! Papacito!" A young girl opened the door and paraded into the room with a golden retriever in tow.

"Astrid, mi amor," Simon said sweetly as he wrapped his arms around their daughter. She had a gorgeous mop of dirty blond hair, and bright brown eyes, just like the prince.

"Hola Papacito," she murmured into his chest.

"All done studying, älskling?" Wille asked as he sat on the sofa, Alva, Astrid's puppy hopping up on his lap.

"Ja, Pappa," she replied, pulling Simon to sit down next to her as she sat between them. "Were you two dancing?" She smiled, looking between them.

"Si, corazón," Simon answered. At that answer, Astrid shot up and pulled her Papacito up.

"Dance with me, Papacito?"

He could only laugh and nod. "Pick an album, sweetheart."

"Is your brother still sleeping?" Wille asked, suddenly remembering that they have two children. Before Astrid could answer, a frizzy mop of dark curls peeked around the doorframe. "Hey sleepyhead," Wille said fondly to his son who shuffled into the room, his stuffed cat and blanket in tow.

"Pappa," Erik muttered, lifting his free arm and giving Wille 'gimme hands.' As Erik crawled up on the couch next to Wilhelm, Simon smiled wide at them while Astrid set up the record player.

Static started coming from the speakers before the music started playing. It was much more upbeat than the songs they had danced to before. It was only a second before he was pulled into silly hip wiggles and twirling and laughter.

"Pappa, are we going to dance too?" Erik stood on the couch and wrapped his arms around his father's neck. How could Wilhelm say no? Before he knew it, the four of them were dancing in a circle, hand in hand. Alva in the middle, wagging her tail, barking quietly, and doing tippy taps.

It was a perfect day that Wilhelm and Simon would treasure for the rest of their days.
