Work Text:
It is nine o'clock in the morning. Compress has stopped by the quaint coffee shop for his daily source of fuel. It seems like a calm and normal start to the day.
He ignores the screaming from outside to accept his cup of coffee from the barista. Music to his ears as he turns heel and leaves to start his day. Only to stop in his tracks at the sight that greets him from outside the coffee shop.
“Dabi, you destroyed Japan before we could accomplish our goal,” Shigaraki stated.
“In my defense, it was an accident,” Dabi claimed. He briefly wondered if Endeavor had died in the fire, but he was never that lucky.
“Technically, our goal has been accomplished since there is no hero system left.” Compress pointed out.
“That’s because there is no Japan left.” Shigaraki deadpanned. He waved his hands dramatically at the sight behind them.
Dabi squints at the boat in front of the League as he tunes out the conversation. Just his luck. Endeavor sits in his All-Might pajamas and Fuyumi rants about how much more useful an ice quirk is than a fire one is.
If any member of the League could see any further, they would see a grape blob floating in the water. They would also see the heroes complaining about how the League had gotten away with their nefarious plan. Hawks could be seen by civilians sighing in disappointment as he lands and drops glitter onto the nearby boats.
A forest fire that had spread into the nearby city was burning down the buildings. It didn’t take a genius to put two and two together that it was Dabi’s fault the city where the League’s hideout was going up in smoke. The third time they had to relocate this month. Shigaraki was not gonna be a happy camper.
Newsflash: Shigaraki was fuming with smoke practically coming out his ears like a cartoon character.
“Our resident flamethrower started a fire and we now have to evacuate again.” Shigaraki glared at Dabi with the clear intention of taking all his cigarettes and throwing them into a landfill. The League of Villains starts complaining and yelling at Dabi in frustration.
“Dabi, I just finished my platform collection. I can’t transport all of them!” Toga exclaimed, clearly disappointed in the edgelord himself for not realizing that would be her catastrophe with Dabi burning down Japan.
“All my limited edition All-Might figures will be reduced to ashes.” Shigaraki gives him the stink eye as if he believed that Dabi did it on purpose.
“Is that smoke?” Compress asks as he points at the outer door to their current hideout.
“We need to evacuate now!” Shigaraki orders the League of Villains.
Sirens can be heard as the firefighters make a failed attempt to stop the spread of the fire.
Dabi watches as the firetruck proceeds to catch on fire. The League all stop and stare as the barista leisurely walks by and throws her coffee mug into the fire. The fire truck bursts into flames as she walks away with the apathetically from working in customer service for far too long.
Dabi files her into the new recruits for the League of Villains or for his own club of arsonists. She strikes him as the type to accidentally light a candle and burn down her whole apartment complex.
The League only snaps out of their shock at the realization that they need to escape soon. They proceed with their evacuation to the nearest port they can find.
Toga is carrying all the blood vials that she can find. Compress is carrying a jar of marbles. Spinner has a bearded dragon snuggled in his red scarf. Shigaraki is wearing his limited edition All-Might pajamas and carrying his All-Might plush with him. Dabi is carrying his Endeavor poster with the darts sticking out of it. It is a bizarre sight to behold as they run to safety. Twice and his clones were once held statues of the League of Villains that they had to drop to carry “borrowed” boats to the port.
Almost an audible sigh of relief could be heard once they hit the water in their boats. The horizon of smoke and the burning country could be seen by the people in their boats.
