Law never thought that he would ever get married. It just wasn’t on the top of his priority list. He had his dream job of being surgeon, a small yet great group of friends, and a fluffy white cat that brought him joy, the first time he saw it at the animal shelter.
So yeah, he was good. He didn’t need to get married, let alone have a steady relationship. That was, until he met Eustass Kid. The redhead came into his life like a hurricane and lingered like expensive cologne, almost intoxicating, making the doctor feel things that he has never felt before… or rather, has been locked away for over a decade.
Those feelings had scared him—attraction, LOVE. He realized that he was falling for Kid. So he did what any emotionally stunted person like himself would do. He tried to push him away. Terrified of the hurt that may come with being in love. He tried to deny that he wanted more from Kid. Tried to convince himself that he would be better off on his own— something he’s gotten so used to in his life. Him against this unforgiving world. For weeks, Law started to make excuses not see him, most of the time blaming it on work.
One night, after the anxiety became too much, Law had supposedly called off their relationship, over a text message. Regretting it and hating himself the moment he pressed ‘send’. But Eustass wasn’t having it. He was persistent and proud—one of the many qualities he admired about the man—and knew that the brunette was being a coward. He was one of the few people who could call him out on his shit and Law not despise them afterward.
Kid showed up at his door, a look in his eyes so fired up, that it truly felt like Law would set ablaze. “Hell no.” Eustass growled after Law reluctantly opened his door. “You’re not getting away from me that easily.” Trafalgar wanted to scream, he wanted to tell him to leave, wanted to tell him that it would never work. Why is he fighting for this? Why is he fighting for ME?
But instead, he folded like a cheap suit, KNOWING deep down, he didn’t really want to let the redhead go.
Desperate to plead his case, he told Kid of his childhood trauma. Told him how he lost his parents and little sister in a tragic fire, being orphaned at a young age. Told him about growing up in a dusty orphanage, where the only form of affection was holding hands as they prayed before their meals. Told him about how he lost his adopted father in the line of duty. Told him how he closed his heart off to love, fearing that if he ever loved again, the people that he cared about the most would eventually be taken away from him. Kid listened, held him in his strong arms, wiped away his tears until his shaking body stilled. “You don’t have to be alone, anymore Law”, was the last thing he heard before he peacefully dozed off. A weight being lifted from his shoulders.
Ever since that conversation, Eustass and Trafalagar were inseparable. Loving and growing with one another day by day.

Fast forward 4 years later, on no particular Thursday, Kid takes him to his favorite restaurant. Blamed it on him needing a break from his long hours of work. “Just wanted to do something for you babe.”
The meal was lovely, their conversation easy and light. They were just about to order dessert when Eustass grabbed Law’s tattooed hand, stood up from his seat to stand beside his lover before staring deeply into his silver eyes. Kid bent down on one knee and pulled out a small velvet box. Although the emabarrasment of all eyes being on them was in the back of his mind, Law couldn’t say yes fast enough!
They decided to have dessert back home in commemoration of their engagement. Consuming seconds soon after their first. They were just so happy and couldn’t get enough of one another.

7 months later, their good friends threw them a party in virtue of their soon-to-be union. The food was incredible, catered by Law’s friend, Zoro’s, husband. Music and chatter filled their apartment. Best men Killer and Penguin made toasts that Law would never admit got him a bit choked up. Their favorite people all being in one place made his heart swell. It was truly so good to be reminded of the wonderful people in their lives and reflect on how far he’s come from being the angry, lonely teenager that felt like the world was out to get him. Turns out, bitter became better.
Everyone was so proud of the two! The couple was constantly pulled from one friend to another. Taking pictures, receiving gifts, talking about wedding plans and the honeymoon, the works. He tried his best to keep his eyes on Kid, but it was almost inevitable that he wouldn’t see him often throughout the night, even though the jollification was for the twosome. Not that he was complaining.
It had been almost an hour since he had last seen Kid when he felt one chilly and one warm arm wrap around his waist from behind.
So much has happened since they started dating. Kid losing an arm in a car accident—terrifyingLaw, bringing back up unwanted emotions, seeing Kid having to go through instense and painful physical therapy and surgery to now having a metal prosthesis. They had to relearn how to make love, how to LIVE and be happy with the loss of the limb. Law decided to go for his cardio thoracic speciality during their time together too. Himself, having to go through a grueling 2 years of training, that tested his patience and the strength of he and Kid’s relationship on many levels. They made it through though, together.
“Feel like I ain’t seen you all night.” Kid whispered in his ear. He couldn’t help but relax in his lovers hold. Leaning his head back against that burly chest of his, placing his hands on top of Kid’s. Law hummed. “You miss me?” Smirking up at the redhead.
Kid slowly turned him around to face the man of his dreams. This time Law squeezing the other’s midsection while the other replaced his hands gently on both sides of his face. Kid pulled Law into a passionate kiss, making the brunette breathless. Funny how he’s never grown tired of the action and he knows that he never will. After pulling back and staring into his hungry eyes, Eustass let out a whispered, “What do you think?”
A quiet huff of breath escaped Law’s lips, more like a light chuckle. “Not really the time or the place to be alone.” he explained, sounding more disappointed than he meant to.
“Just say the word sweetheart and I’ll kick all these fuckers out so that we can be.” Kid quipped.
Law thought about it for half a second before reaching around to squeeze his fiancés firm backside before his short reply, “Do it.”
Kid beamed! “I love you so damn much Law.”
“I love you too Eustass-ya.” Rising up on his tiptoes to capture his future husband’s painted lips once again. He’s never been so comfortable with saying those words in his life and he meant every syllable! Eustass was his and he was Kid’s. He had picked up the broken pieces of his heart and welded them back together. The two a match made, after all the family he ever had went to heaven.
“Now get them out of here, so we can celebrate in the shower…then in the bed.”
“Nothing would make me happier.”
