    Summary

“...Who was he?” the man asked, his voice slightly aged and tired. The hood of a ruana kept his features mostly hidden from view.

“No one knows, a few recolectores found him on the outskirts of the encanto. He fell from the cliffside.” you answered. It wasn't uncommon for people to be curious. The gifts of the madrigals usually kept death in the community at bay. Even less so was it a stranger buried within the walls of the encanto. This was what you expected to be the first question of many.

“Oh, well I suppose it's better that he was buried then.” the man responded again, seeming to be glued to his place before tossing what looks like salt over his shoulder and walking forward, taking a seat next to you. His lanky body hunching to make himself even smaller than he was. His body language was guarded, shrinking into himself. He smelt of sawdust and petrichor, the distinct smell swelling into your nose, blocking out the smell of incense from the church that had previously tanned itself into your nostrils and throat.

“I'd like to think I agree with you."
