Chapter 1: Before the Meeting

Chapter Text

“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you that we housed both male and female students.”

“No Aunt Martha, it’s alright. My roommate is going to be a girl, correct?”

“She is. She’s a year younger than you.”

“Does she … know?”

“No, I only told her my distant relative is moving in with her. She’s a good girl. You dont have to worry about her finding about your identity, when she’s too busy stuffing her nose in her books,” Aunt Martha said with a smile.” Dont fret too much. The boys only come here to sleep, and the one that does stay… he’s pretty harmless.”

They arrived at a long hallway with green walls and elegant panelling. The hallway was lined with mahogany doors. As they walked through the hallway, carrying Lorelei’s luggage, it was getting more visble how old the house was.

Aunt Martha was a widow. Her husband willed his large townhouse to her so she can live in comfort after he passed. Her only son assummed his father’s title and estate. Aunt Martha invited her son to live with her in Clark, but her son preferred the country side and moved to his father’s neglected country estate, determined to restore it.

Aunt Martha did not want to be alone, so she converted the townhouse into a boarding house and accomodated students attending the nearest school, Clark Colleges. It was a great way to get extra income. It only housed a dozen students, and Lorelei was happy about that.

If word gets out that she was staying there, the past will come back to haunt her.

“We are here!” Aunt Martha said gleefully as she opened the door to my room.

They entered the room and saw two single beds, two wardrobes, and a small vanity. A small girl got up from one of the beds and walked up to them.

“Good Afternoon, your ladyship.”

“Lorelei, this is your roommate, Beatriz Herrera,” Aunt Martha gestured.

“I’m Lorelei, Lorelei Rios,” Lorelei introduced herself.

“I’m a second year physical science student,” she said, “you?”

“Third year mass communications,” she replied.

“Do you need help with your luggage?” She offered,” I can help you get settled.”

“I can manage myself, please do not worry.”

“Lorelei, I’ll leave you now. If you need help, please call me in my room. Get some rest,” Aunt Martha reminded before she closed the door.

“Lady Martha has told me a few things about you,” Beatriz said with a big smile on her face. “She told me you liked writing, and I do too! Is it a-alright if you can proof-read some of my work from time to time?”

“Sure.”

“Thank you!”

~~~~~~
Lorelei was tired. Unpacking was always a tiresome job ,of course. If only there was some place in where she could get some privacy, just to arrange her notes before she attends her new school tomorrow.
“There’s a library downstairs right?” Lorelei asked.
“There is, it’s barely used however,”She answered. “The others say that the library is haunted. I dont believe them though. I only do my work here because I find the library too dusty and cold.”
Lorelei was relieved that the library would be empty. It did not matter to her whether the library was haunted or not. She just needed a place to be alone for a while.
“There’s only one person who frequents there,” she said in an unsure manner. “A boy, he’s the only male student who does not go out as much like the other boys.”
Lorelei was not fond of the opposite sex as company.
“What is he like?”
“He has this mysterious aura. He never talks to people. I only know that his name is Loki and that he is a criminology student, but none of us know his surname or where he comes from.” She changed the topic and poured some tea into her cup, “Anyway, would you like some tea?”
“No, thank you.”
