Stubble

Summary:

Miles falling in love with Phoenix’s stubble beard and cherishing it until Phoenix figures out that he loves it.

Notes:

This is probably the most fics I’ve ever written in a month. I’m so sorry for the spam

This was inspired by a post I saw by the way!:

Work Text:

They were lying together in bed, doing their usual cuddle session as Phoenix tightened his arm around Miles, pulling him closer.

Phoenix suddenly realized he had forgotten to shave that morning and now he had a stubble beard.

“Damn it. I forgot to shave this morning. Sorry, Miles.”

Miles’ head was positioned below his chin, resting on his neck. Then, Miles began rubbing his head insistently against his jaw.

“You have nothing to apologize for, dear. It is only human to forget.” Miles continued rubbing against Phoenix, shifting his body into a more comfortable cuddling position. “Especially when it’s you.”

“Wha- Hey! I don’t forget things all the time. It’s just that I forgot this time, y’know?”

Miles snorted and gazed up, grazing his nose on his stubble. “Sure. Am I to assume the other times you forgot are ‘that time’ as well?”

“…Yes.”

Miles chuckled and then starting rubbing his nose on his jaw. “You are a ridiculous man.”

“Says the person rubbing on me so insistently.” Phoenix remarks. “What got you like this? Because you never do this normally during our cuddles and I want to find out how to make this a regular occurrence.”

“…You’ll never figure it out.”

“Uh-huh, Uh, huh. Sure. Are you forgetting that you are talking to the most smartest, handsome, funniest husband in the world?”

Miles snorts. “I somehow doubt that.”

“And yet, you married me.”

“That, I did. Unfortunately.”

“You’re just saying that so we can get off topic. Why do you keep rubbing on me like that? Not that I mind, of course.”

“Remind me who called themselves the most smartest, handsome, funniest husband in the world?”

“See? You’re changing the subject.”

“You are unbearable.”

Miles buried his head back into his neck and continued to rub.

Phoenix needed to find out how to get him this way more. What was the trigger? Has he done this to him before? Was there anything there in particular whenever he did this?

Was it the smell? Miles always said he loved how he smelled like, though. He said it himself out loud, so he wouldn’t just leave it for Phoenix to figure it out if he already knew.

…But then again, he might.

Was it the new sheets? Oh wait, he’s rubbed his head under his jaw before without the new sheets.

Maybe it was their anniversary soon? When was it again? He’s done it last week though when he also forgot to- wait.

“Your thoughts are deafening, dear. Keep it down.”

“Miles. You like my stubble beard, don’t you?”

Miles tensed up and then buried himself more into Phoenix’s chest in embarrassment.

“Awh, wait! Don’t hide! You can admit it. I look like the most smartest, handsomest, funniest husband in the world with this beard, right?”

Miles mumbled something into his chest and hid deeper.

Phoenix laughed at that. “You’re adorable, you know that?”

“No.”

Phoenix bursted into more laughter and moved one hand to take Miles’s face up to look into his eyes, and took his other hand to take Miles’s, moving his hands up to his stubble.

“You like this?”

“Nghh… I was wondering when you’d figure it out.”

“So you do like my stubble.”

“Shut up. At least it’s not dangerously spiky like your hair.”

“My hair isn’t dangerous! You like running your hands through them.”

“…I plead the fifth.” Miles began cupping Phoenix’s face and started placing kisses around Phoenix’s jaw. Phoenix relished the warmth he felt and helped move around his head so Miles would get better access. His kisses were haste, but sweet, his hands rubbing every piece of hair on his face.

Miles continued to kiss around his jaw until he made it to his lips, caressing and savoring the moment. It was addicting and sweet, slow and steady, long and longing. Warmth spread throughout his body as he let the love for this man come out into the kiss, so sweet and endearing.

Once they hesitatingly pulled out, absolutely breathless, they stared at each other’s eyes in a comfortable silence.

Then Phoenix snorted. “I should forget to shave more often.”

“Perhaps you should.” Miles chuckled as his thumb still on Phoenix’s jaw rubbed up and down the stubble.

Phoenix never bought a razor again.
