The Tanizaki siblings only met one of their parents, sure their mother had many one night stands with many men but neither of them met their birth father. They were pretty sure that they had different fathers. Mrs Tanizaki herself was a drug addict and in turn was neglective and verbally abusive.
So Junichirou -as the eldest child- pulled on his big boy pants and did his best at being the parent, he really only had television to go off but he'd be damned if that stopped him. Somebody had to look after Naomi. If nobody else then Junichirou would.
