The Love of Kang Yohan's Life

Summary:

"A man." Another voice interrupted. Woosik handed Soohyun a bottle of beer, which she thanked her with a pat on his shoulder. The three of them observed Kang Yohan sitting on the sofa recliner, with his legs crossed calmly sipping on his champagne. Away from the hosts and hostesses keeping the other men and women company.

He looked as impeccable as ever, his suit wrinkle-free and hair still styled the way he entered the office this morning. "Somehow I cannot imagine him with a man…" She mumbled, "Won't there be too much...power play?"

Woosik and Soohyun looked at each other, clearly amused.

Work Text:

The entire prosecution office of the supreme court was celebrating the latest victory against the high profile case tonight. So naturally, Kang Yohan would be invited as well. The man was the ace of the court, everyone respected him as much as feared him. Some high profile politicians and the police chief were also invited.

"Judge Kang is so handsome." Yoon Soohyun scoffed at the dreamy sigh of her partner. "Get off your high horse." She told her, "He is already hitched."

"What?! No way!" Her partner exclaimed. She, as well, couldn't wrap her head around the fact that this man can be married to someone. "Is that a man or a woman?" She asked.

"You will see him tonight." Woosik took a sip of his beer. "What is he coming?" Soohyun raised his eyebrow. "Well Chief is drinking so he will have to be driven home." Woosik shrugged. "And he said he was bored anyway."

While they were talking the door of the private area opened and a tall figure entered while talking on the phone. Glancing at them he gave them a recognising smile and went straight to Kang Yohan.

The man perhaps didn't expect him, so when he felt someone had sat on the armrest of the recliner he turned to glare at the audacity. Yet, everyone watched with their open mouths as the terrifying Judge Kang's face split into the biggest smile when he saw the other man.

"Am I so drunk that I am hallucinating you?" Kang Yohan raised his face when the other man leaned in to peck on his lips. "Are you?" The other man asked, with a sweet smile.

Soohyun cleared her throat, catching their attention. Kang Yohan didn't look the slightest bit embarrassed, nor did the man. Instead, the man gave them a friendly smile and introduced himself, "Hello I am Kim Gaon. I am the head judge of Seoul high court." He nodded at them. "I am Hyung's University Hoobae and his spouse as well."

"Ah, you are the one who delivered lunch the other day?" Suddenly one of the prosecutors said. Kim Gaon smiled, "Yes I did!"

Soohyun’s partner looked at her with wide eyes.

“I have always wondered..” One of the colleagues piqued, then corrected himself, “ We have always wondered. How did you end up with each other?

Kim Gaon’s face split in a huge grin as he moved from the armrest to the recliner, casually putting his hand behind the other man. “May I ask what might be the reason for this curiosity?” He asked not unkindly. The colleague shrugged, “Because Judge Kang doesn’t look so accommodating, you know it’s very hard to imagine that he would just let someone in his life.”

“Hey..” Kang Yohan warned.

Kim Gaon didn’t pay attention to his warning. He continued with that smile, “Well as I told you, we met in the university. So I was a freshman in the law department of SNU and he was in the fifth year.”

“Since the cat is out of the bag.” Woosik cut in, “I would like to confess that I was..” He pointed at Kim Gaon, “This guy’s roommate in uni.”

There was a bit of silence before collective screams from the colleagues. “What! You knew about him?” Woosik shrugged, “Of course! I am the closest to them.” Then he added, "Oh Judge Oh too, she used to sneak into our rooms at night and watch movies."

There was a collective "ooooh" and Woosik cringed thinking about the number of questions Oh Jinjoo would face Monday but he didn't regret any of it, if he was going down he would bring her too.

The people had lots of questions as it seemed but one glare from Kang Yohan and they shut their mouths and continued with their entertainment. Yohan took Gaon by his hand and they walked towards the balcony, "Come." He whispered.

"Why do they look the same when they first started dating?" Soohyun scrunched her face in disgust and sipped her beer.

The balcony was private, having a separate sofa and chairs, once you close the door no sound will be heard and vice versa.

Yohan sat on the sofa and pulled Gaon with him on his lap. The younger man went along without any protest, smiling at him with his signature eye smile that drove him mad.

"We are too busy these days…" Gaon rested his head on the older man's shoulder and inhaled. Yohan caressed his hips, lightly drawing circles on them.

Yohan knew why Gaon came running to his office celebration today. They haven't slept together for almost three days and it's the first time that has happened. They both were busy but Yohan still couldn't help but feel guilty. "I am sorry." He whispered, holding him in his arms tightly like always.

With ten years of extensive therapy and five years of medication, Gaon didn't get nightmares anymore but he still couldn't sleep without Yohan. The therapist said that in the beginning, Gaon had suppressed his trauma so much that it got worse when he found someone he trusted with everything. Yohan too couldn't leave Gaon alone, he didn't trust a single person except for his family and closest friends with Gaon.

Gaon loved him with everything and Yohan wanted to hand his life to this man. He already did as much as he could, his entire being belonged to Gaon. They were married, Yohan would do more if there was anything more to do. Now, Gaon has recovered pretty well. He was famous for being a righteous judge in his career, his extreme courage was inspiring for lots of youngsters.

Yet for Yohan, Gaon had always been courageous. From the first time when Gaon rushed to the principal’s office to testify for him without fearing the consequences, perhaps that was when Yohan fell for him. Fell for this courageous little Bambi who stood still even after the world repeatedly tried to bring him down.

"Hyung." He felt Gaon touch his cheek and turned his face towards him. "Why are you apologising silly?" He reprimed. "I was just complaining, I know how important this recent case is." He caressed cheeks, his chin, his cheekbones as he talked. It was his habit, always wanting to feel Yohan around himself to feel safe.

“I love you.” Yohan spoke abruptly in between his talking and Gaon blinked, then his face split in a wide grin. “Hyung…” He exhaled. Yohan busked in his intense gaze before closing the distance between them.

Kissing Kim Gaon was a habit. A habit that made him feel at ease despite everything, something that he will never get tired of. Gaon kissed him with hunger like they are underwater and he is losing breath.

Yohan put his hands under his sweater and Gaon moaned in his mouth, shivering when his thumb brushed one of his nipples. He pushed the neckline off the shoulder and left a trail of kisses, leaving bites here and there.

Gaon held him tightly baring his neck and moaning obediently. One thing Yohan noticed all these years was that Gaon didn't mind the place and time when Yohan held him. He didn't care if it was a public or semi-public place, he would obediently take everything Yohan had to offer.

It worried Yohan at first, he thought maybe Gaon was unable to say no. But the therapist assured him that it was nothing to do with his trauma, he just loved Yohan. She said Gaon must really love him so that he would let another man touch him when he was barely recovering.

Yet Yohan didn't dare to take this trust for granted.

"Baby…" Yohan grabbed the back of his neck and Gaon's glazed eyes cleared a little.

"Let's go home…" He whispered. Bringing his face close so their noses were touching. "But…" Gaon whined a bit, pouting and gripping his shoulder a little tightly.

Yohan wanted to take him right here, but he couldn't. He had always maintained their privacy. As much as he wanted to show the world that Kim Gaon was his, he didn't want Gaon to feel embarrassed later. So he pushed down his instinct and hugged him tightly.

Sometimes Yohan regretted not meeting him earlier. If only he met him earlier and kept him with him, kept him safe and protected.

"Let's go love." Yohan got up and pulled Gaon with him. Gaon gave him a bright smile like always and nodded.

The colleagues were still having fun in the sitting area when they came outside. Yohan gestured to Woosik that they were leaving and the other nodded.

As they left hand in hand, lips were swollen and hair askew. Soohyun closed the opened mouth of her partner.

"I told you." She deadpanned and sipped her drink, "He is the love of Kang Yohan's life."
