Marc choked on his breath as he looked up and saw his boyfriend entering the art room. Alix simply snickered, seemingly already knowing the situation.
"What happened to your hair?!"
Nathaniel rubbed the back of his neck with a sheepish smile, drawing even more attention to the fact his hair only reached the bottom of his ear now. "I... made a mistake while painting yesterday."
Marc made a strangled noise, still not comprehending the sight, "What could possibly happen that you needed to cut your hair?"
Nathaniel fidgeted with his hands, mumbling out an explanation. He raised his voice upon noticing Marc's raised eyebrow. "I got paint in my hair."
"Yeah, okay, but why couldn't you wash it out?"
Nathaniel stayed silent for a moment, before quietly murmuring, "...Oh. I probably should've done that."
"YOU THOUGHT OF CUTTING YOUR HAIR BEFORE WASHING IT?!"
At this point, Alix was cackling so much, she was using a chair to keep herself propped up so she didn't collapse from laughter.
Nathaniel pouted, shooting a quick half hearted glare at his best friend, "When you put it like that, I just feel dumb."
Marc walked up to him, holding his face in his hands and making the redhead look at the writer.
"I can't believe I'm in love with you."
While Nathaniel certainly didn't have to cut off his own hair, the fact that it let him get a kiss from Marc made up for it.
