It was a stormy night in Ninjago. Thunder was roaring, lightning was striking, and rain was pouring, but the Ninja were still outside on the Destiny's Bounty. They were training hard against the ferocious wind and rain. The waves using their monstrous force to rock the ship back and forth violently. It was a perfect punishment in the eyes of Sensei Wu. There was no reason to put your new team member in danger or harm.
Within the warmth of the Bounty, Morro half slept on his bed surrounded by darkness and blankets. Weirdly, Morro felt almost ill as he felt the harsh rocking of the boat. He was inside a massive tin can in a location that wasn't safe for him. It made him fearful as the ghost never like the ocean even when he was alive. There was never a bone in his body that liked the sea. It's a dark unforgiving place. Nobody knows how deep the ocean can be. The darkness that is beneath the waves is nothing compared to what humans have seen on land. Monsters that grow to gargantuan size in order to eat anything smaller with a single bite or tiny creatures that can sneak through any orifice to wreak havoc on organs. Nope, Morro is good.
Ever since the Preeminent drowned within the Endless Sea, Sensei Wu had made Morro an honorary team member of the Ninja. Awkward is an understand. It was uncooperative. Kai always threatened Morro with violence on a daily basis. Jay and Lloyd would avoid Morro because of fear. Nya and Cole would stare menacingly and Zane. He didn't know what was going on through the nindroid's programmed head, but he knew that Zane didn't appreciate him being around. The only people that actually talked to the past villain was Wu and the thief from Stiix, Ronin. It was all surprising really. Morro had used Ronin to lead the Ninja into a deadly trap and yet, Ronin still continued to talk to him. To treat him like another person. It made Morro oddly uncomfortable but happy at the same time. He was filled with odd emotions whenever they would talk to each other. His dead heart would beat harder or stop as a whole if Ronin got a little close.
Knock! Knock!
"Yes?"
"It's Ronin."
FUCK!
Morro sat up in bed and rubbed the sleep out of his eyes. "C-Come in!" Morro called out. His forest green eyes watched as Ronin quietly opened the door and tip toed inside. He was wearing his usual attire. Did he ever wear anything else? The door shutting with a soft click. "Hey." Ronin whispered, putting a hand up for a simple hello. "So uh, what are you doing here?" Morro asked quickly, looking slightly away, embarrassed at his poor social skills. "No hello or hi?" Ronin teased, stepping up to the twin sized bed.
"Anyway, I just came in to check up on you."
"R-really?" Morro squeaked, his face slightly heating up. Ronin's face got a little close to Morro's, his hand rubbing the small burn mark on his face. "I heard what Nya did to you today." He calmly stated. Morro moved his face away from Ronin's hand. The burn mark was still painful. "Sorry about that."
"It's fine."
"Okay..."
The room went silent and both men looked down at their hands. The tension could be cut with a knife with how everything was going. "Jeez, sorry." Ronin muttered. Morro bite his bottom lip, the canine tooth sinking into the cool flesh. "Sorry for what?" Morro muttered back. "For making this awkward. Now it's going to be weird when I tell you this." Morro perked his head up. "Talk about what?"
"That I like you that way." Ronin pronounced, wobbling slightly on his feet, the waves causing him to lose balance.
"You do?"
"Uh, yeah."
Morro looked up to the old thief with a small, flattered smile. He was almost flustered too. "Wow." He laughed nervously, rubbing the back of his neck. Ronin smiled uneasily. "How do you feel about that?"
"I love it."
"R-really?"
"Come here."
Ronin sat beside Morro on the bed and his head cupped the side of Morro's face that was burnt up. Morro's skin was cold, but it was a good cold. A loving cold that didn't put a chill down Ronin's spine. "Sheesh, your eyes are so beautiful in the dark." The raven head man's green eyes flicked up to look into the russet brown of Ronin's eyes. Within the darkness that surrounded them, Morro's eyes glowed with an ethereal essence. It matched the misty green glow around him as a whole.
Leaning in, Morro's lips brushed against Ronin's hesitantly, then Ronin kissed back. Their kiss was soft and welcoming. Strong arms of Ronin wrapped around the cursed spirit's small but strong frame. Pulling away, Morro leaned down in the bed, Ronin lying next to him with his lips pressing against Morro's forehead. "Let's just lay here and relax." Morro whispered, nuzzling into the thief's chest. Sleep was coming into full swing.
'I love you, Morro."
