Work Text:

It was a beautiful day in Mondstadt. After working late for most of the week, Jean was urged by Kaeya to take today off. While she had protested the initial offer, Jean was grateful for the respite. Plus, it gave her time to see Lisa at Windrise. It was their anniversary after all.

Before leaving the city, Jean stopped to buy some flowers. “A bouquet of Cecilias, please,” she told Flora.

“Ah, for Miss Lisa, I presume?” Flora asked.

“The very one,” Jean said, reaching into her pocket for some Mora. Flora waved a hand.

“It’s on the house, Master Jean.” She handed her the wrapped bouquet, a small smile on her face. “Oh. Well, thank you very much, Flora,” Jean said.

On her walk to Windrise, Jean thought about what she wanted to discuss with Lisa. It had been a while since they were able to spend time together.

Before she knew it, Jean had arrived in the shade of the massive oak tree. She walked up to the base of the tree and sat down. Jean set the flowers next to Lisa, before launching into a story about how she had caught Klee dragging Albedo to Starfell Lake for some “fish blasting.”

“She had twenty-two bombs! Of course, Albedo was apologetic, although I trust he would not have let the situation get too out of hand. Klee’s a good kid, though. She’s got a good heart, but I just don’t know how to keep everyone safe without tamping down her spirit.” Jean took a breath and finally turned to look at Lisa.

“I miss you,” she whispered. Only the lively chirps of the birds answered her.

“You would probably tell me that if I was doing my best, then that itself is enough. You always did know what to say to make me feel better.” Jean traced her fingers over the pristine gravestone inscription, lingering on Lisa’s name. By now, the tears were flowing freely.

“Did I tell you that Kaeya made me take today off?” she chuckled wetly. “I think I thought if I acted like it was a normal day, it would be. We’ve seen how well that turned out.”

She placed a gentle kiss on the top of the stone. “I really, really miss you.”

This time, the empty whispers of the wind were Jean’s lone reply.

I feel like Lisa wouldn't want to be buried at Windrise since Jean visits all the time, but Jean would do it anyway because she finds comfort in Lisa's presence
