Chapter 1: Dinner Date - Wintersfield

Chapter Text

Chris sighed, cigarette smoke billowing from his nose. It was a normal night for him, especially after Romania. Ethan, in fact, had not died but now they had him tucked up into an isolated apartment away from Rose and Mia, something that was evident the father did not like but understood. Video calls were their main way of staying close, though Chris was pretty sure the blonde mostly enjoyed the calls because he got to see Rose. Mia and Ethan’s marriage had fallen apart after the village and Miranda, it was not that the two no longer loved each other but the events of the past years had put a strain on both of them and the band had finally snapped.
They didn't know what Ethan was capable of, the man was still an anomaly and most importantly a bioweapon.

The door slammed behind him as Chris trudged up to the staircase leading to the tucked away apartment. The brunette stubbed his cigarette out and knocked on the door, quietly waiting for the father to open the door. A chuckle escaped him as he heard a TV silence and muffled footsteps shuffle over quickly.

"You're 30 minutes late to your usual time," Ethan hummed, black stained under his eyes and around his cheeks. It didn't alarm Chris, these stains had become a recent development. Whether it was one of Ethan's cry sessions due to his "shows" and or a breakdown.

"Yeah, yeah, still got you the damn food didn't I?" The air between the two was light and playful. Chris shrugged off his coat and hung it up by the door before joining Ethan over at the table. "I got your usual from the Thai place and a few new things. Thought we might as well try them."

"As long as there are no mushrooms, it should be good," Ethan said before quickly rummaging through the bag now on the table.

Rough hands rubbed the older man's face, "We've had this debate. It is not cannibalism to eat mushrooms."

"That's not what the plants or the mold say~" the blonde teased as he got to work on getting his food to his side.

"I still cannot tell if that is a fucking joke or not."

A quiet laugh escaped Ethan as he scooped food into his mouth. "Guess you'll just have to find out."
