“I can tell a lot about people,” Xie Lian continued. “I get inside killers’ heads for a living; I know their maternal traumas before I even know their eye colour.” He turned to face Hua-Yisheng, who loomed above him. “Imagine what I can figure out about a person standing right in front of me.”
Once out of his mouth, however, Xie Lian bit his tongue. Above him, the hanged man’s guts ceased swaying as the temple air settled.
Suddenly, Xie Lian was reminded that he did not know Hua-Yisheng at all.
