Sucrose woke up to the birds chriping and the sun breezing.
She yawned and stretched her hands. "Oh wait? Today must be the day of the royale ball."
Sucrose wasn't a part of nobility or anything such. She was a girl from a certain village, she lived in a small cottage with her granny and grandpa. Then there was of course her childhood friend albedo but he worked with her dad at a clock tower near her house. Albedo and her father would do alchemy together. She herself loved alchemy it was one of her favourite things besides reading fairytales.
But hey lets get back in the story about the royale Ball is an royale activity held by the queen and the royale family of mondstadt kingdom. The ball is spent every year when the queen has her birthday. To be apart of the baal you have to be over 16. Sucrose turned 16 a few months ago.
I'm so happy to wear my moms dress to the ball. Sucrose thought while getting up from her bed.
She put on a cheap cottage dress and brushed her hair quickly.
She ran downstairs to see her granny make a amulet for breakfast. "Good morning sucrose."
The old lady turned to her and smiled.
"Good morning." Sucrose smiled and walked outside. "Where are you going? the ball isn't close to starting yet." Granny shouted.
"Oh I'm going to say good morning to Albedo."
She said and left before granny could say anything.
Outside there was a certain someone wearing a white button up that's a little dirty and some shorts holding a box.
Sucrose ran to him. "Good morning Albedo"
She said with a smile. Albedo just handed her the gift "Take this it's from your dad" he said handing her the gift. "Are you not gonna say good morning back!?" She said putting her hands on her hips. Usually sucrose wasn't a person to defend herself but with Albedo it's different she doesn't seem shy around him since they have been childhood friends for a long time.
"I'm sorry, good morning Sucrose." Said albedo scratching his head. She smiled and took the gift. "Wait why did father get me this.? It's the queen's birthday not mine.?" She looked at albedo blankly. "I don't know but I suggest you to open it and not stare at it blankly." Her cheeks heated up. She opened the box revealing a golden necklace with a green orb on it. "A necklace? For me? But why?" She crooked her head in confusion. The necklace is so petty I wonder where father got it from.
"I don't know. But I have to go now." He started walking.
Sucrose grabbed his hand pulling him back her way which made his eyes wide. "Don't go I'm not done talking with you."
Albedo stared back at her in confusion.
"So today is the ball and I am gonna go there. And what I am saying is that.. maybe you wanna.. yk? C-come there w-with m-m-me?" Her stuttering hit her again how stupid she was.
Sucrose thought to herself being very flustered.
"I would have to decline sorry. I am gonna do work here, those balls are stupid anyways." Said Albedo.
Sucrose could feel the feeling of rejection and soon teardrops forming in her eye Does he have anything against the ball maybe the queen. this isn't him or am I just not good enough?
"Fine! Guess I will dance with someone e-else..!" Sucrose ran away.
"No wait!" Albedo could only shout but the girl was already away. Albedo sighed and thought ugh what have you done. you idiot. He then walked away.
Back with sucrose.
She ran in her room crying.
"I should stop crying. The day can still be good." She looked at the necklace again it was still shining.
Maybe I could wear this as a accessory to the baal?
Time skip to 3pm
"Sucrose get ready for the baal!"
Granny shouted.
Sucrose walked to her closet taking out her dress. The dress was a white dress that had a flowers all over it.
She put her dress on it looked gorgeous but she wasn't done yet.
She let her hair free and brushed it once again. And added a white bow in her hair. She hardly has her hair open since it gets in the way.
Lastly she put on the green necklace.
Sucrose ran outside seeing a carriage with one of her friends inside "I-i'm sorry for being l-late."
"It's okay you're only a minute late." Said the girl sitting next to her with twirls in her hair and a purple dress it was Barbara. Barbara had been friends with Sucrose for about a year now.
Sucrose knew Barbara was here to see the future queen and the royale family.
Sucrose looked outside of the carriage. "T-This is like a f-fairy tale a p-poor girl-l turns into a p-princess." Sucrose said jokingly.
"Huh? Not this stuff again." Barbara said sighing.
Sucrose was always seen weird by the other people since she read a lot of fairy tales and because of her ears. Albedo was the only person who never made fun of those two things actually he enjoys it when sucrose reads fairytales to her.
After some time the carriage arrived at the ball. Sucrose and Barbara got out of the carriage and waved the driver a bye.
"It's so big!" Said Barbara looking at the castle.
Sucrose observed the castle it was a big castle with white and gold walls. At the top of the castle there was a huge balcony with a telescope and a alchemy table for some reason. Albedo would love that, but why is there a alchemy table like that in a place like this?
"Sucrose! Sucrose!" Barbara snapped Sucrose back to reality, realising she was thinking about Albedo made her flustered.
"Are you okay you are very red, did you catch a cold?" Said Barbara worried for her friend
"I'm f-fine let's go inside.."
Barbara nodded and they both walked inside the castle.
The ballroom they walked into was very pretty. It had two big stairs that connected to eachother by a big balcony. There was also a huge beautiful chandelier hanging from the ceiling.
The first thing that sucrose noticed when she walked in the ball with her blonde haired friend was that everyone had beautiful wealthy dresses, she knew that the cost of one dress must've cost way more money that she could even dream of.
The ball went good, a lot of people complimented Sucrose on her minty hair some even complimented her ears. But none had asked her for a dance.
After a while she felt anxious. This is getting boring... it feels like I am not supposed to be here. "Albedo was right these parties are stupid."
Barbara poked Sucrose "Why so derpy? Missing your chalk prince already?" Barbara laughed. "N-No.." Sucrose could feel her cheeks heat up so she quickly looked away.
Barbara noticing Sucrose's unusual mood she walks closer to her "What's wrong?" Sucrose looks at Barbara "Can we go home..?" She mutters. "We haven't met the new princess nor the Royale family. And I wanna make a good first impression on the new princesses and maybe we can find someone charming for both you and me." Said Barbara with a smile. "S-someone c-charming..?!" Sucrose thought of Albedo once again. Why can't she stop thinking of him? he is just a friend anyways.!
"Hey, I am gonna go get some grape juice you can do something fun while I am gone!" Said Barbara leaving with her wallet.
Something fun. Thought Sucrose, what could she do?
Sucrose sat down on the large staircase stairs and started thinking.

Now I know! I can go to the alchemy table on that balcony.
Sucrose got up and started running. She ran out of the ball room to find a hallway with many doors and stairs. She started walking upstairs just to be met by another pair of stairs but these stairs where different she couldn't see the end of the stairs and it was very dark. "I g-guess it's the only way up." She gulped and took one step feeling shivers down her spine.
"Okay Sucrose you can do this." She took a deep breath. "I can't do this!" She started running up the stairs in a hurry which almost made her slip.
"Careful Sucrose careful..!" She said as her scared voice echoed as she went up the last pair of stairs.
She let out a sigh of relief and looked up to see the same balcony with the alchemy table. "Finally." Sucrose said as she walked into the balcony's edge holding to the railing. "The view is so pretty." she said as the cold wind blew her minty hair.
"Oh yeah I almost forgot that I came here to checkout the alchemy table." Sucrose said as she moved over to the alchemy table. The table was made from wood and had a few shelves with powder and empty potion bottles.
Her eyes where shimmering with sparkles this table brought her back to memories of her Albedo and her dad doing alchemy together when she was younger.
"What are you doing up here alone, young maiden?"
Sucrose quickly looked behind her to see a long figure with navy-blue hair, he wore a expensive black suit following with a weird eyepatch.
"I u-uh." How could I have this happened? Ugh just my luck.
The man walked closer to the mint haired girl but gasped with wide eyes that made Sucrose confused. "You look very familiar." Said the blue haired man. "Wh-hat d-do you m-mean? I have n-never s-seen y-y-you.." said Sucrose. "Indeed, sorry, a gentleman has to introduce himself to a beautiful maiden. I'm Kaeya, a knight of the Royale family and the cousin of the Royale family's princess Jean."
Oh no it's someone from the Royale family what am I gonna do he knows that I am in a area I am not supposed to be im!!
"I uh.. i-i'm S-sucrose." She said scratching her head.
"Hello Sucrose, so why must a beautiful lady like you be at a place like this. Aren't you supposed to be enjoying the ball and dancing with someone?" Kaeya said with a weird smile on his face.
Beautiful lady? This guy is really flirtatious.
"The thing is that..." Sucrose sighed. "N-nobody has asked me to d-dance." Said sucrose with a frown.
"Well why don't we dance?" Said kaeya with a smug.
Guess it wouldn't hurt to dance with him.
"I uh.... S-sure." Said sucrose.
Kaeya took Sucroses hand and the started to dance.
Something felt wrong. Shouldn't I be enjoying this? This is every girls dream, dancing with a charming prince. But for some reason her heart didn't beat at all..
The dance went on for a few minutes but none of them talked, it was very awkward indeed. Finally Kaeya let go of her. "T-thank you for the dance Kaeya. But I have to go back with my friend. Bye now." Sucrose left downstairs and started looking for her friend Barbara. Where is she?? Soon someone poked her from behind "Sucrose~~" said the person with a creepy voice. "EEK!" sucrose almost fell over but Barbara caught her. "I'm sorry if I scared you it was too funny! But where have you been?" Said Barbara with a worried look. "I uhh-"
But before sucrose could finish the blonde cut her off again. "It doesn't matter we are meeting the princess soon let's go!" Said Barbara as she took her hand.
Barbara brought sucrose to a huge line of people and it seemed they where lining up to talk to the princess and someone else?
"Barbara can we go home.. I don't feel like waiting." Said Sucrose exhausted. "Nope I am not missing me opportunity. As Sucrose looked at the princess and the person beside her they where pointing at her and saying something. Sucrose tried to shake it of but soon the princess and the person beside her who looked like the guy from earlier started to walk in her way. Sucrose panicking thinking on what to do. Should I run? Stay? What do I do?!? But before she could do anything the princess was already next to her. Same with the blue haired boy from earlier. "Dear lady can we please look at your necklace?" Said the princess. "O-oh w-why.?" Soon the attention was on Sucrose and on the princess everyone was looking their way.
The blue haired boy stepped in. "We have found out that your necklace is very similar to a lost princess, please let us take a look at it or we will use strength." Sucrose kept quiet.
"Please tell us where you go this from?" Said the princess behind Kaeya. "I-it's a g-gift from my f-father and my f-friend.."
"Is your father or friend a stealer or a robber or anything such?" Said Kaeya.
Who is this guy to talk about Albedo and her dad like that?
Sucrose had enough
"Excuse me but don't talk like that about my father nor my friend this stupid necklace is not worth anything where I live! Take it I don't care!" Sucrose ripped the necklace off her and gave it to the princess.
The princess took Sucrose's hand and brought her to a private room.
"I'm sorry about Kaeya's behaviour, he is usually like this." Said the blonde haired princess.
"It's fine p-princess... I also.. snapped a little too much.." said Sucrose looking at the floor. "It's jean by the way, no need for "princess"" said Jean smiling. "But is it fine if I investigate this necklace I need to know if it's actually the lost princesses necklace." Said Jean holding the necklace. "It's fine.." said Sucrose with a gentle smile.
Jean left to another room with her necklace.
Soon Sucrose's smile faded off. This is so stupid. Why did this have to happen. I'm in such a big mess.. I wonder what Albedo is doing right now. Probably practicing alchemy with father?
"Sorry to stop you're thinking Sucrose but someone is at the door for you, he has pale skin, light ashy hair-" before the person could finish speaking Sucrose already knew who it was and suddenly she got up with a warm smile on her face.
The boy walked inside the room looking exhausted.
"Albedo what are you doing here.?”
Albedo looked at the mint haired girl. "Your father sent me to come here to look after you to see if anything happened.
She ran towards Albedo and gave him a big hug. "i'm glad you're here.." she whispered.
There was a tint of red on Albedos cheeks, indeed he was flustered.
Then they pulled out of the hug. Sucrose could feel albedo was looking at her neck.
"You're necklace what happened to it.?" Said Albedo in a sort of worried tone. "eh?! Oh.! I'm really sorry but.." Sucrose started to fidget with her fingers.
"Sucrosee..?" Albedo raised a eyebrow. "I um.." Albedo cut her off "Your father said that you shouldn't wear the necklace to the ball. Did you?"
Sucrose looked at him "I did and now... I am in a big mess, why would you guys give me a gift of the Royale family?"
...
"Because Sucrose. You're the daughter of the lost princess."
The mint girl's eye's widened. And she took Albedos hand and brought him to another room.
"Why didn't you guys tell me any of this..?" Said Sucrose looking down. "Look Sucrose I am sorry."
Sucrose ran to Albedo "You guy's always have your s-secrets.! W-why can't it be like the o-old d-days.. when we all did alchemy *sniff* t-together.." Sucrose was crying on albedos shoulder. "I" Albedo had no words.
"I promise you to not hide anything from you anymore." Said Albedo putting his hands thru Sucrose's soft mint coloured hair.
"P-pinky p-promise.?" Said Sucrose.
"We can seal this promise with something better." Albedo pulled Sucrose's face from his shoulder and pressed his lips against hers. She could feel his hot body press her chest. Soon she fell down on a soft bed and so did Albedo. The male was now on top of the girl still having his mouth on hers. His mouth continued to seek hers with a desperate passion, intertwining their tongues together.
"A-albedo.."
they both pulled away panting.
"A-albedo you're-" before she could finish a young maid with gray short hair walked in "Sucrose, Jean has something to tell yo-" the maid with short gray hair closed the door blushing.
Albedo quickly got up embarrassed. "Oh no..! Jean is looking for me and that maid saw us like this!!" Sucrose was panicking.
*knock* *knock* "Can I come in?" Said a girl voice. "N-no! I mean y-yes."
Jean walks inside the room holding the necklace. "I have good news and who must this be?" She looked over at Albedo. "Oh him.. he is Albedo my uh.. f-friend." Sucrose said looking at Albedo. Albedo waved with a straight face. "Oh and sucrose you're face is really red, did you catch a cold?" Said Jean looking concerned. "She is just hot nothing else." Said Albedo. "Alright lets get on the topic. I have good news. The necklace is real which means you're the lost princesses daughter." Said Jean smiling.
Albedo was right after all.
"But there is one thing I have to test before actually knowing that you're the lost princess." Said Jean. "W-Which is? Sucrose asked the blonde.
"Blood test."
"Before you ask how it works I will explain. See the orb on this necklace? This orb changes colour when it detects Royale blood." Jean took out a small needle, pointed it at her pointer finger and poked it slowly into her light skin.
After that she inserted the needle ontop of the necklace and watched the blood drop on the green orb. Soon the necklace started to glow a bright light green light.
"Woah." Said Sucrose with sparkles in her eyes. "Now it's your turn Miss Sucrose." Said Jean holding the needle. Albedo took the needle "Is it fine if I test that it only lights up for humans with the Royale blood."
"Do as you wish." Said Jean.
"Albedo you don't have too." Said Sucrose.
But Albedo took the needle and poked it into his finger placing the needle ontop of the necklaces orb. Again they all watched peacefully to see if it lights up. This time there was no glow. "Now Sucrose it's your turn." Albedo took the girls finger. "A-albedo.! I can do it on my own.." she said with a flustered face. "I am scared you will poke it too hard so you get hurt, I don't want a friend of mine getting hurt because of their stubbornness especially you Sucrose." Albedo said trying to hide his smile. He really cares about me so much, but why? I am just a childhood friend.
"Well are you ready?" Albedo said looking at the mint haired girls face. Sucrose nodded. Albedo gently poked the needle in her finger which made Sucrose whimper a little. "Are you hurt?"
"I'm f-fine." He took the needle out of her skin still holding her finger and placed the needle on top of the orb once again.
It light up.
"It's now proven, congratulations Miss Sucrose." Said Jean smiling.
"T-thank y-you princess Jean." Said sucrose letting out a big smile.
"Just call me "Jean". Also do the two of you wanna stay overnight?"
"Well actually me and Sucrose where planning to go-"
"Yes we will stay!" Sucrose cut Albedo off.
"Alright I will get your rooms ready, please meet us 8pm, we will have dinner!" Then Jean left closing the door leaving Sucrose and Albedo alone
"Why did you agree to staying, we should leave back. You're father is worried." Albedo sighed. "I'm sorry Albedo but I wanted to seem nice and I think father will be fine without us." Sucrose said looking away.
"Mmm."
"Your rooms are ready!" The same gray haired maid came in the room.
"T-Thank you uhh miss um.. name.?" Sucrose said asking the girl. "My name is Noelle." Said Noelle smiling. "Well thank you Noelle." Said Sucrose smiling back. "No problem, I will now lead you both to your rooms." Albedo and Sucrose both nodded following the maid. They walked past a long cold hallway with a lot of paintings with beautiful women. Sucrose was holding her shoulders because of her poor clothing choice. "S-so cold.." Sucrose mumbled. Albedo could see from the corner of his eye Sucrose shivering. He turned her way and placed his white & black jacket on her shoulders. Sucrose was flustered but tried to not show it. "Oh Sucrose here is your room!" They all stopped walking facing a white door. Noelle opened the door revealing a beautiful luxurious princess room a room Sucrose could only dream of. "Thank you again Noelle." Sucrose thanked the maid. "No problem miss Sucrose." Noelle closed the door and Sucrose could hear the footsteps of both Albedo and Noelle walk away. As soon as she heard them walk away she flapped herself on the bed.
"What is wrong with me why have I been thinking of him so much?! It's not like I like him or anything.. and not like a person like him would like me." As she was talking her ears kept flapping just by the thought of him
"And what was that kiss about? He just confuses me so much. Same with my dad, why can't he tell me anything?"
Sucrose looked at the ceiling thinking. I guess I should just rest for some time to make myself feel better sucrose curled up in a fetal position having her ears down as she hugged her pillow closing her eyes.
