Chapter Text
“I did'n drink tha’ much.”
You chuckled as the Copy Ninja tripped while toeing off his sandals, one palm pressed firmly against the wall to support his unsteady weight.
“Sure you didn’t.”
He glared at you in response, though the way his brows furrowed in frustration was more adorable than intimidating.
“Okay,” you said, stifling another laugh, “I believe you.”
His expression immediately changed to one of exaggerated glee, broad smile lifting his cheeks beneath his mask. “Th'nk you.”
As Kakashi attempted to continue into your apartment, he tripped and you captured him in a warm hug to arrest his forward momentum. He mumbled something against your hair about the floor having changed since his last visit and you smiled at his antics.
Seeing Kakashi drunk was a rare sight, one you knew very few people had been privy to. And you couldn’t deny he was pretty cute when a little inebriated.
“Come on,” you said, “let’s get you to bed.”
“Mm'kay,” he said, shuffling along as you kept a firm hold around his waist to support him.
However, as you made your way toward the bedroom, Kakashi detoured unexpectedly into the living room, detangling himself from your grasp and collapsing unceremoniously onto the couch.
“Kakashi, wouldn’t you rather sleep in the bed?”
He shook his head, burying his face against the cushion. “M'fine here.”
You rolled your eyes, but decided not to argue.
By the time you returned to the living room with a pillow and blanket, Kakashi was already snoring gently, drool collecting beneath his mask, resulting in a growing dark spot along the front of the fabric.
You smiled fondly, adoring how vulnerable he let himself be in front of you, now. It had taken plenty of time and patience to get here, and you were grateful for every moment.
You knelt beside the couch, gently sliding Kakashi’s forehead protector off, brushing your fingers through his tangled hair to smooth it out. It was a little more difficult to wrestle him out of his flak vest, but you managed to do it eventually, even if you broke a sweat in the process.
You decided to cut off the bandages on his ankles and thigh, setting his weapons pouch on the floor. Then, you tugged off his gloves and laid them over top.
Lastly, you pulled his face covering down and let it pool around his neck so he could breathe a little easier.
Kakashi didn’t so much as twitch a muscle the entire time, too passed out to even notice all the jostling you were doing. You leaned forward and pressed a dry kiss to his newly exposed cheek before draping the blanket over him and tugging it up to his ears the way you knew he liked.
You left the pillow next to the couch, but deciding not to try and wrestle it under his head. Then, you filled a glass with water in the kitchen and set it on the floor, within arm’s reach for the Copy Ninja when he inevitably needed it.
“Goodnight, Kakashi.”
You leaned forward and brushed his silver hair away from his forehead so you could press one last gentle kiss there. He mumbled something unintelligible in his sleep, but didn’t move.
You made your way to bed, already thinking of what you could make for breakfast that would lessen the Copy Ninja’s surely painful hangover, looking forward to your little unscheduled breakfast date, even if it was somewhat at his expense.
