Chapter Text
Soonyoung and Wonwoo were peacefully sleeping on their bed when the taller one woke up abruptly. He let out a scream not too loud, but enough to wake your partner up – and to make Junpi, their other cat, run away.
"What happened, Wonwoo-ya?" Soonyoung questioned, a little sleepy.
"Had weird dream" Wonwoo answered, while pouting.
"Do you want to talk about it?" The younger willingly asked.
"I-" Wonwoo started saying, a frown forming in your face. "I dreamed you left me because I messed up"
This is not the first time something like that happens. Wonwoo is generally dominant and protective, both in bed and out of it, but he sometimes would get into this very vulnerable state of mind that resembled one of a kid, and Soonyoung was completely aware. It was the first rule when they started their relationship: to take care of Wonwoo and he gets into little space.
Thankfully, even though Soonyoung was more of a submissive guy, he knew how to take good care of people. He cooed at Wonwoo and asked if he wanted a hug, and the other made an affirmative sign with his head while humming.
While embracing Wonwoo, he took a look at the alarming clock that was on his boyfriend's bedside table. It was 4:45 am. Soonyoung thought it was interesting that, in the previous night, something like that happened to him too. He also woke up in the middle of the night because of a "weird dream". And Wonwoo was so fond of him, he felt so safe in his lover's arms... to give it back was the very least he could do.
Soonyoung tightened his hug. "Hey, Nonu?" The other hummed in a questioning tone as a response "Do you want a plushie?" Wonwoo hummed again, while shaking his head affirmatively. Soonyoung then got out of the bed and asked what plushie he wanted.
They had a bunch of plushies. Most of them were Soonyoung's tigers, but Wonwoo had some too. His acquisitions included a pink blob called Kirby – yes, the one from the game –, a black and white cat called Morgana – yes, the one from another game –, and an otter called Dino.
"Want Dino" the little one answered.
"Okay sweetie, I'll bring him to you. Behave until I come back, hm?" Soonyoung demanded, planting a kiss on Wonwoo's forehead.
Soonyoung headed to the plushies’ room, leaving Wonwoo alone. While by himself, the little one was left only with the thoughts of the dream he had. He didn't remember what happened exactly, everything being all a blur on his head, but just the image of Soonie yelling at him with no apparent reason terrified the small Nonu, making him want to cry.
But then he felt something jump into his lap. It was Tiger Lily, their female cat.
She wasn't just one of their cats. She was the first one, the matriarch. They adopted her when they were still sharing a place with Jihoon and Junhui, and it was quite easy to convince.

This time was not different. She felt something was wrong with Wonwoo. She sits on his lap, allowing him to pet her.
Meanwhile Soonyoung was in the plushies’ room. It was supposed to be a guest’s room, but they decided to leave them there because they didn't want them to see... stuff they shouldn't. A couple of them were on a shelf, and the rest were on the bed that was supposed to be for an eventual guest. Instead it was, beyond the plushies, Junpi. He was one of the kittens in the first and only litter Lily would ever have because Soonyoung forgot to get her neutered. After they graduated and decided to move to their own houses, they had an argument about whether to keep them together with Soonyoung and Wonwoo or if they would get split apart.
After a heated discussion, Jihoon and Junhui decided that the other couple could keep them both. Even though Lily is a lovely cat, it was clear she is more attached to Wonwoo than to anyone else, and Junpi would feel very lonely without his mom. To compensate for that, Soonyoung would, a couple of weeks later, give them a cat, and they called it Hoshi.
Junpi is now a very big and fluffy cat. That makes him very spacey, occupying almost one third of the bed, which makes some of the plushies fall off the bed sometimes. And that’s what happened to Dino. Soonyoung rolled his eyes at the sleepy cat and picked the stuffed otter from the ground, giving it a couple of little slaps to clean. He then patted Junpi and came back to their room.
When he arrived there, he found the cutest image ever. Wonwoo was still in the bed, but Tiger Lily was on his lap and he had the cutest nose scrunch and he was making little baby sounds. The cat made him so happy that Soonyoung couldn’t help but to stay by the door and appreciate the view for a while. After a couple of minutes he remembered what he was there for. "Here it is, little one" Soonyoung says, handing Wonwoo's favorite plushie and giving him a kiss on the nose, making the taller smile. Lily, as if she knew her work there was done, jumped out of the bed and left the room.
Soonyoung came back to lay beside his lover, who was hugging his dear otter plushie. Soonyoung got so warm inside, watching the scene. This is who he wanted to see this lover, and not about to have a breakdown. He watches as nonu goes "hihihi" and kisses the plushie. “You really love him, don't you, sweetheart?" Wonwoo hummed in affirmation
The little one looked at the plushie in his hand and his beloved. He made grabby hands signing for Soonyoung to come close, cupped his hand around his Soonie's ears and said "not much as wonu love soonie".
That was too much for Soonyoung's heart. The warmth he felt inside grew bigger and bigger as he saw nonu's smile and nose scrunch forming, just like when a child tells someone something "top secret".
He stayed like this, watching Wonwoo hug and kiss Dino, when he took a look at the time. It was about 5:05am and they needed to wake up at 7:30am. "Does Wonu want to wake up or to stay in bed?" Soonyoung asked. "'M sleepy… wanna back sleep"
Soonyoung was a little surprised by the response. Generally Wonwoo was not the type of person who would go back to sleep after waking up abruptly like that, little space or not. Maybe it was because he didn't have the best sleep the previous night, since he had to entertain a little tiger cub in little space too. He thought again how connected they were for that.
"Okay my love" the grown up responded, giving him a kiss on the cheek "See you later hm?" Wonwoo hummed. "Wanna sleep in Soonie's arms… Wonu can?" wonwoo added, with pleading eyes. "Of course, sweetheart! Come over, come over!" The other responded, opening up his arms. The little one made himself comfy in his Soonie's arms and slept while listening to his heartbeat.
A couple of hours later, their alarm clock started ringing. Wonwoo woke up first, not little at all. He saw Soonyoung still sleeping, a little snoring coming from his mouth. He decided to let him sleep a little more, got Dino into his hands and put him back in the visitor's room. Then he went to the kitchen and, while giving food to their two cats, Wonwoo thought about how lucky and grateful he was for having such a wonderful angel in his life. And also about kissing his lover's entire face when he woke up – and maybe let him buy another tiger plushie.
