It was a long day at work. So Katsuki decided to go out with his friends to drink something. He asked the group chat:
Idiots +Baku
Katsuki: Yo Idiots wanna go out to drink or smth?
Denki: Sorry bro I have patrol later with Hanta :/
Mina: Bakubabe I'm sorryyyy. I have a date later with a really hot dude <3
Eijiro: Sure bro. At the Bar at 7 :D?
Katsuki: Sure shitty hair.
Eijiro: :D
He looked at the time. 5:46 pm. Enough time to take a shower and eat Dinner. He hoped in the shower. In his beautiful big bathroom. He didn’t really care how the bathroom looked when he picked the apartment. But someone else really liked the bathroom. So, he picked the apartment. Closing his eyes, he felt the drops on his skin. Remembering the fun hiking trip, he did years ago with someone.
They had so much fun and then it started to rain. He remembers exactly how he cursed at the sudden rain. But the person with him just laughed and enjoyed the rain. He started to relax at the good memory of him and ... He heard a sudden bang.
He went out the shower and rapid a towel around his waist. He walked into the pretty kitchen that je picked. Looking down he saw a broken cup. It was an All Might cup. Meow. He looked to the counter where his cat sat innocently. „Why the hell did you do that Nacho?! That…. was his favorite…. “He bent down and picked up the biggest piece with the picture of All Might on it. Meow. He looked at the cat again. Then he picked up the rest of the broken cup and set it on the counter. I’m gonna fix that later. He petted Nacho and went back to the bathroom to finish his shower.
After the shower He grabbed fresh clothes and looked at the time again. 6:03. Still enough time for dinner. He entered the kitchen again and saw the broken cup again. He remembered the day he bought it as a gift for… him. He grabbed a towel and placed it over the shards of the cup.
He looked in his fridge if he had any ingredients to cook a decent meal. He had a few vegetables and a little meat. He decided to cook curry with the things he has left. As the curry cooked, he grabbed the cat food from the shelve and fed Nacho. Meow. „Yeah, you’re welcome.” He grabbed a bowl out of the cupboard and put some curry into it. The walked to the dining table. He sat down and looked at the empty seat in front of him. Remembering how it felt to eat together, talking about dumb stuff and laughing about it. Smiling at the memory he ate his curry in silence.
He washed the bowl and put it back in the cupboard. Petting Nacho as he walked back to the bedroom, he checked the time again. 6:41pm. He walked to the closet and looked for something to wear. Nothing too fancy but also not something he would wear at home.
He chose a green shirt with a black pair of jeans. Fixing his messy hair and checking the time. 6:53pm. Putting on his Shoes and looking in the mirror again. Remembering someone else with him in the reflection. He grabbed his Jacket and his keys and walked out the front door.
Katsuki decided to walk to the bar because he will drink and don’t want to drive when he drank something. The bar isn’t to far away. It’s just a 5-minute walk. He arrived at 6:59pm and looked for Kirishima. He wasn’t here yet, so he sat at the bar and waited for his friend to arrive.
A few minutes later he felt a hand on his shoulder. „Hey Bakubro! What’s up man?” He turned to his right and saw the number 5 hero Red Riot or for him better known as Eijiro.
They had a fun night at the bar. They drank a little but not too much. „Hey man, can I maybe stay over at your place? My place is so far way and I’m so fucking tired.” Eijiro asked. „Sure. Let’s go.” He answered. They stood up and walked out of the bar. After about 2 minutes it started to rain. But not just a little drizzle, it was a whole storm. The two walked faster to Katsukis apartment. When they arrived, they were soaking wet.
„You can take a hot shower and grab some clothes of mine. I’m gonna get some blankets and pillows for you.” Katsuki told Eijiro. „Thanks, Katsuki.” He answered and walked to the direction of the bathroom.
Katsuki heard the shower running and walked into his bedroom to grab some blankets and pillows. He grabbed a few and walked back to the living room. He saw Nacho sleeping on the couch. She looked so cute. He remembered coming home seeing her snuggled up to him on the couch….
Lost in thoughts he heard Kirishima calling his name from his bedroom. „Katsuki? Where are your Sweatpants?” „They are in the bottom drawer.”
Eijiro opened the bottom drawer and looked for sweatpants that would fit him. Then he saw a little black box at the bottom on the left corner. Weird. What’s that? He grabbed the little velvet box and opened it. His jaw dropped. Inside the box was a simple golden ring.
What?! A ring? An engagement ring… Who does he want to marry? Do I know them? He put on some sweatpants and made his way to Katsuki.
Katsuki stood in the living room looking at his cat. „Hey Kats…. Who is it?” He asked. Katsuki turned around confused of the question Eijiro asked. He looked at the small velvet box in his hands and the golden ring in it. Of course, he knew what that was. „Who do you want to propose to Katsuki? Why didn’t you tell me?”
Katsuki walked closer to him and closed the box. „Nobody.” he said. „What? But- but why do you have it then?” Eijiro asked confused. „I- … I wanted to propose to him…. but I was too late… Eijiro…” Katsuki said. He felt a tear roll down his cheek.
„Who Katsuki? Did you guys break up? When? And why didn’t you tell me? I- I thought we are best friends.” Eijiro said, tears in his eyes. „We are Eijiro… I wanted to tell you all, …. After I proposed.” Katsuki answered, with a sob.
„Then why didn’t you propose?” He asked the blond with concern.
„Because he died Eijiro! Izuku fucking died before I could ask him!” Katsuki screamed frustrated. His legs gave out and he fell to the floor. He clutched his shirt at the spot where is heart was. He now let his tears flow freely. He doesn’t care that his fried is seeing him at one of his weakest times.
Kirishima kneeled in front of him. Calming him down. „Hey calm down. Just breath, ok? In and out. Just like me.” Katsuki slowly calmed down. His breaths still shaky but the tears have stopped.
They were sitting at the floor right beside each other, leaning at the wall of the living room with the many pictures of Katsuki with his friends and family. They didn’t talk, they enjoyed the silence. „We were together since the last year of U.A. I confessed to him first at the second big fight we had at ground beta.… I- I kissed him and to my surprise, he kissed me back.” Katsuki said, smiling at the memory.
„You can’t just run into a fight. You are so stubborn. Do you really think you are a human shield? That is fucking stupid Deku. How can you be this reckless?!” Katsuki yelled. He threw a right hook, which Izuku easily dodged. Then he threw an explosion with his left hand at Izukus face. He dodged again with his fast reflexes. „I just did what I had to do, Kacchan! I needed to protect the people!” Izuku yelled back while dodging another punch. „I don’t want to fight you Kacchan.” He told him in a calmer voice.
But Katsuki didn’t stop. He threw another explosion. Izuku dodged again, but this time with his quirk activated. He aimed a kick at Katsukis stomach. He stumbled back. But fired more explosions at him. He flew in the air to get a better angle. Izuku also jumped as well kicking him again. Katsuki barely dodged.
Landing on the ground he yelled. „I DON’T WANT TO FIGHT YOU EITHER!!” Izuku looked confused. Katsuki walked to him and grabbed Izuku by the collar of his shirt. „Don’t be so reckless I-Izuku… You worried me.” He said with a sad tone in his voice. Then he yanked Izuku closer to him and pressed his lips to his own. The kiss was messy, but the beginning of a story that ended too rapidly….
„We weren’t just roommates Eijiro… we were lovers. We just kept it secret for our safety.” Katsuki told his friend with a little smile on his face. „I know he was one of your best friends… but I never thought you would be lovers. That- that explains why his death hit you so hard… I- I’m so sorry bro…” Eijiro told him, putting a hand on his shoulder. „Don’t be… It was 2 years ago. That’s a long ass time. I-I thought I moved on. I guess I didn’t…” Katsuki said, combing his hand through his hair.
Eijiro asked him carefully „Why didn’t you propose earlier? If I calculated correctly, you were together for about 6 years.” „The thought of marrying the nerd never crossed my mind until he wanted to watch a cheesy romance movie, where they married at the end. He looked so happy when the couple in the movie finally kissed at the wedding. I decided to buy a ring. Just a simple one, nothing too fancy. I had everything planned out perfectly. The perfect date.” Katsuki explained.
„But- but that sounds perfect what happened that you didn’t ask him?” Eijiro asked confused. „Because one day before the date, the 16.06.xxxx, he died. The fucker died… and the date of the planned proposal became the day of his funeral.” Katsuki told his friend, a few silent tears rolling down his cheek. „I-I saw him die Eijiro… he died in my arms….”
