He notices how his facial hair, which had been drawn on, is smudging and definitely needs to be touched up. He can't touch it up easily without getting makeup first, which he doesn't have money to pay for it himself.

Summary
After Rex 'back to the future'd, in his own terms, he expected nothing to exist. He wouldn't be anything.
Instead he had opened his eyes to a desert, one that's extremely familar, the fallen buildings around him familiar as well, the one of what was home to him for a few years. Instead of the nothing he expected, he's back in his 'home' timeline. His best assumption of why he's here is that this is hell, his punishment for who he became.
