Chapter 1: Job?

Chapter Text

Keigo Takami, also known as Hawks, was a man too fast for his good. He was the number three hero, rich as someone could be and ran his agency starting at eighteen years old. He was perfect to the public, handsome, polite, maybe a little smug, and seemed like an amazing man.

Yet, no one looked behind the scenes. The pained and almost understanding look in Keigo's eyes when he solved a human trafficking ring. The anger he flared when he was near a commissioner officer. No one saw that. Except for a few but it wasn't thought about. The commission was strong and unflawed to the light of society.

That was until someone, or something saw.

Keigo had been in his agency, idly tapping on his wooden desk until his beloved secretary, that was a pun since she had a mutation quirk of a secretary bird, came in with a polite but wary smile on her face. The winged man immediately noticed the small pinch on her eyebrows. Greeting her, Hawks scrunched up his nose and took the phone that was pushed into his hands.

Nodding to his secretary as a hint of dismissal, he took the phone and blinked once the squeaky voice of Nedzu came over the speaker. Immediately Hawks stiffened and let himself widen his eyes in a bit of nervousness. Nedzu had been an enemy to the commission for as long as he could remember. He was not to ever contact the rat or there would be consequences. Yet here he was.

"Hello! This is Keigo Takami, correct?" the voice asked, excitement evident through the phone.

Keigo frowned marginally, a bit of doubt hit him like a train as he answered. "Ahh, yes, but I go by Hawks now! this must be Nedzu then, I assume?" the man answered smoothly, his tone taking a small dip before he ended.

"Of course!! All that aside, I have a proposition to make to you, Keigo Takami!!" Keigo immediately flinched at the extended use of his first name. Yet, he pushed on, if not a little strained.

"As I said Nedzu-san, my name is Hawks!" he chirped, knowing it sounded extremely strained and unsure before continuing, "But of course, you may." Keigo pursed his lips as he let the other continue.

"I know perfectly well Takami-Kun! Anyways, I was wondering if you could maybe become a teacher's assistant next to Aizawa and All might as the main teachers!" the voice continued. Yet, Keigo immediately blues screened. His eyes were wide with immediate shock and doubt. A very strangled noise exited the winged man's throat as he choked on his spit.

"I-I don't understand...?" (The commission would never let me, you know this Nedzu) he choked out, eyes wide and handshaking. Why would Nedzu even propose this? This was insane!

"Well, Takami, it seems as if the commission has no say in this situation! As of now and the overseen future, you're as free as a hawk!" the Stoat chirped, his voice too chippy in this situation. "So, back to the proposition! I'll give you a moment to decide!"

Keigo had no clue what to do. No clue what he was feeling as the silence traveled both ways through the phone. His sandy eyes were wide in shock and disbelief, terror ripped through him. He was free? How? Why...? Questions raced through his mind, tearing through the mental walls he had spent years building.

It took him at least ten minutes to calm down and be able to answer, yet even then he was still jittery and honestly terrified. His voice rasped through the phone as he flexed his free hand. "I still...Don't understand? Well, I do, but how? Why? When? Did-" Keigo was cut off from his ramble by the other.

"Takami, you're a free bird. you don't have to worry about how at all. Please just provide me with an answer. Yes or no is completely fine too." Nedzu chirped, his voice pleased for whatever reason.

"A-alright Nedzu-Sama." Keigo stuttered, heart, pounding as he struggled to get himself together again.

"Great! Your agency will still be run by you but only on weekends. Don't worry about anything other than getting here next week! Your schedule will be more like Aizawa-San's as well. You don't need anything either, just arrive at 8:00 AM next Monday! Thank you, Takami!" Nedzu explained as if this were the most normal thing in the world for him.

"Wait! Ned-" Keigo called out yet sighed once the 'ended call' popped up on the phone. His wings twitched in irritation at that before a big sigh exited his mouth. Yet, immediate panic gripped him in an iron fist. "What have I done!?" he cried out dramatically, he should have asked Nedzu more. Yet he didn't.

It had been exactly a week from the day the demon had called Keigo Takami, the red-winged man was nervous. He had dressed decently in a t-shirt and normal flexible jeans just so he didn't make a dramatic entrance. The man did NOT want to wear his hero costume. He just wanted to be normal for once in his life.

Keigo had done a small press conference for an announcement of him beginning his career at UA as a teacher's assistant. Everyone was surprised and some sick part of him wanted the hero commission to suffer for it. Yeah, people started to question the commission after the Hawks left them for good.

Shaking that thought out of his head, Keigo, as he would now go by that, and Takami-sensei, which felt weird as hell, sighed as he walked the rest of the way to UA. Not that he was far from it, he just wanted to procrastinate a bit more until 8:00.

Once he got to UA, which wasn't long at all, he noticed three faculty at the entrance. A smile made its way onto Keigo's face as he waved. The three were all people he knew. All Might, Aizawa, and Nedzu. Aizawa just stared at him while the other two enthusiastically greeted him.

After the obvious greeting, Keigo followed the three to the staff room, where he was introduced to many other heroes and faculty. It was intimidating for him, to say the least.

During this time, Aizawa had announced that Hawks, or he was to be called Takami-sensei was going to be working as a teacher for classes 1-B and even 1-B. Which he was eternally grateful for because Aizawa was a lifesaver.

As Keigo walked to the classroom with Aizawa, he absently twiddled with his thumbs as a nervous tic. He felt as if he was walking to his execution. But he powered on, his eyes trained on the dark-haired man in front of him. His crimson wings were tucked on his back as close as they could get comfortable so he could easily fit in the door of 1-A.

Once the door opened, Keigo immediately realized it was soundproof on the outside when chaos erupted from the inside. The crimson winged man almost flinched from the noise but held himself together evenly. A kid with spikey blond hair had a cruel smirk on his lips as his hands smoked and smelled of burnt caramel. His hand was aimed toward a boy with green hair. Izuku Midoriya, Keigo's mind supplied helpfully.

Keigo's instincts flared to life as almost immediately he saw how scared the shorter boy looked. Eyed wide with terror and the most scared look the man had ever seen on a victim. His eyes narrowed and he looked to Aizawa who had just exasperatedly stared. But there was an emotion Keigo couldn't for the life of him figure out. It looked like anger but also realization. Something between the two, Keigo figured.

Yet, under five seconds upon their entrance, the whole class had quieted from their positions. It looked like a showdown. Bakugou's friends were holding him back and Midoriya's friends were standing in front of the boy protectively.

"Oi, get in your seats!" Aizawa suddenly yelled, voice fierce with fury and anger as he flared his quirk. An immediate reaction spread to life as every student sat in their seats and quietly got settled.

Of course. This was the start of Keigo's day...
