Summary
A misjump years prior to the Second Cylon War leads to a model Six being ejected from her destroyed basestar before her programming was downloaded into making her a 'blank slate'--a tabula rasa when she is recovered by a ship belonging to the Terran Empire (NOT the Star Trek Terran Empire). This Terran Empire was inspired by the Terran Empire of Poul Anderson's Polesotechnic League stories and also the old Traveller RPG--I'll go into more detail in my comments. She grows and flourishes knowing that she's an AI, but not knowing that she's a cylon or anything about the Colonies or the cylons. Ten years later a Colonial raptor fleeing the attacking cylons misjumps in roughly the same position and is taken in by an Imperial border cruiser. This starts our story...
ETA: I've decided to do the same thing with this story as I'm doing with my "Raptor-verse" stories--split it up into multiple books. We've reached a natural endpoint for book one here.
