Chapter Text
“Tommy.”
Tommy looks up and lifts the shitty hoe that he was using to garden. He tried to lean on it like he had no strength, but that wasn’t hard to fake when you could literally feel your bones.
“Dream? What are you doing here?” He wasn’t supposed to be here for another three days. No matter how short they were here. It was a long time still. He looked over the small farm Tommy had going and scuffed a shoe over the edge. He did nothing about it, but Tommy could practically feel the urge to kick over the small wheat he had going.
“Was wondering where you were..” He walked a bit aways and dug the hole. “You know the drill, Tommy.”
Tommy dropped the hoe. Walking over to the hole, he dropped the only thing he would count as tools. A shitty pickaxe that he used to get iron. Tommy stepped back from the hole and waited.
“All of your stuff Tommy.” He was tapping his foot now. Universal sign of annoyance.
“It is all of my stuff.” Tommy did a recount of what he had. Three more packs of seeds, two twigs, and the compass. Tommy dropped the two twigs, they weren’t hard to find. After a few more seconds, Tommy could literally see the vein in his neck bulge. He stuffed his hands into his pockets and dropped whatever coal bits he could find.
“That’s all?” He pushed further. Tommy shrugged, nodding. He swept his gaze towards the hole and lit the TNT. Tommy stood as close as he could without losing his hearing, but the ringing in his ears said otherwise.
“What are you going to do today, Tommy?” He slugged his arm over Tommy’s shoulders. With him being hunched over and his knees barely able to support him, it was quite easy. Tommy shrugged. His words for the day were up. If he wanted to keep whatever water supply he had left, he needed to limit how much he opened his mouth. Dream seemed thrilled by his silence, so it really didn’t matter.
“Well, I was thinking of going to see Technoblade! Do you want to go with me?” He had his head fully turned to me. Watching how Tommy was going to react. He didn’t physically on the surface. Internally, though, he was two-sided, terrified, and excited.
Go go go runaway leave getaway Go go
Tommy shushed the gut feeling inside of him. Dream was his friend. He didn’t need any more voices telling him otherwise. Tommy looked up at Dream and nodded. He could swipe some stuff while they were doing whatever those two did.
---
The walk was longer than he had energy for, but they made it through the tundra and to the porch of Technoblade without him stumbling too badly. Dream walked up to the porch and knocked. Tommy didn’t focus on it too much, not wanting to know what secret code they could have. No sound comes from inside, but Dream cocked his head towards the small window at the top of the door.
“What do you want?” Technoblade’s voice, though muffled by the door, is still very clear and targeted harshly at Dream. Dream’s shoulders rise a bit, but his stance keeps relaxed.
“That isn’t any way to greet an old friend. Hm?” The door opened and Technoblade stepped to fill the door frame. He seemed to size Dream up.
“Are you here to cash in your favor? Or do you need a place to stay? Hm?" Technoblade cocked a smile. He hadn’t seen us yet.
“Oh! You see me and Toms here.” he grabbed Tommy’s arm to pull him forward. Wrapping his arms around him, he pulled him into a side hug. “Wanted to check out the area. You know, scout some land.” Technoblade raised an eyebrow at that. He turned his gaze towards Tommy and scrunched his nose.
“You smell like shit.”
Tommy's shoulders hunched up, he didn’t want to go inside anymore. He started breathing heavier, but he-… I said nothing to his jeer. That makes Technoblade’s eyebrows rise further. He says nothing too. Dream digs his fingers into my shoulder and steps forward.
“You gonna let us in? Not to cash it in, but a favor from a friend.” Dream strode in as soon as Technoblade moved himself to the side. Dream dragged Tommy’s body along. The inside was a lot homier than they thought. Dream situated him in a corner of the room. Techno gave Tommy a side glance, as he didn’t move. I shuffled my feet in place. I don’t care. The more pity, the better.
....
Tommy shook his head. That wasn’t right. The voices were getting to him. He glared at the ground. His head swam a bit from the temperature and the sudden movement... Dream noticed his queasiness and pushed him onto the couch. Kneeling in front of Tommy.
“You okay Tommy?” Dream inquired. He held his head in his hands. Tommy couldn’t see Techno, but he could feel his presence a while away. Tommy blinked. Everything turned blurry in his eyes. Tommy blinked again. The warmth from Dream’s hands was overwhelming. Did he take his gloves off? Tommy leaned heavier into his palms. Slipping out of place into darkness more and.. more… an……. ore.
“-ommy? T..-my? Tommy!” I slipped into place again. I shook my head and blinked rapidly. Where was I again? I looked over the room again. Couch, fireplace, Dream, Technoblade, coffee table, books. I settled my gaze back on Dream. He was sitting on the coffee table. He looked distraught, but I couldn’t trust that. Technoblade was just standing there awkwardly with a pot of tea.
“Uh, okay, what the fuck is going on here.” He sat the pot of tea on the table and stood upright. “Why the fuck are you guys here and why is Tommy fucking spacing out like he’s high?”
Technoblade was definitely mad. Confused, but mad. My head hurt and felt heavy with sleep. I need to take a nap. It was basically the perfect time to slump over because Dream is standing up and moving in front of me. So just five min.. ute.. s-
———
Coming back to a body was an experience. I groaned and sat up with difficulty. When I finally got my bearings, I distinctly and loudly freaked out. I fell out of the bed I was in. Where the fuck was I. I turned around a couple more times. Getting the “I’m kidnapped and possibly in a different country” vibe from the entire establishment I was in, I promptly tried to exit out the window.
“Okay, I can he-Tommy!” A dude that I could only describe as the coolest man on earth was holding a spoon and a bowl. Philza fucking Minecraft.
We both stood in awkward silence. Him by the sane means of exiting the room and me by the 2-floor drop window. I inched closer to the less than reliable getaway exit, and he stiffened. Two shadows raised from his back, but I wasn’t going to worry about that.
“Okaay, calm down Tommy. Look, I got some food. Do you want some chicken broth?” He took a step forward, and I bristled. If I was smart, I could get out of here by the sane way, but I was really fucking hungry. “Easy, Tommy, calm down.” Motherfucker, I am not a damn horse.
I was looking everywhere, but the stupid delicious-smelling soup. I could not afford to be distracted. Phil tapped on the floor 4 times. Trying to get my attention, but because I have assumed the name fucking little shit gremlin. I lunge at Phil.
Startled, Phil drops the bowl. I take him down and instantly push him off so I can run through the door. I get down the ladder and instantly spot Techno. He is standing in my face and I pounce on him, too. Well, lunge is a better word, but before I can knock him down, He grabs me by the scuff of my shirt. Which results in a fuckin loud tear, but again bigger things to worry about go, go, go!
It startles Techno enough for him to drop me, and I spring towards the door. I make it like three feet before I realized. Oh yeah, snow. I screech and jump half a foot off the ground. But a loud yell of “Tommy!” from the house makes me realize that having my organs inside my body sounds a lot better when they are not. I take off.
A loud whoosh in the air makes me look up and a big ass shadow dives on top of me. I’m stuffed into the snow again. I gasp and struggle under the weight. Phill grabs my arms and lifts me out of the snow. He tucks me under his arms and flies right back inside. The weather changes from hot to cold back to hot again, making my skin curl.
“Okay, there we go.” He sets me down. “HEy! No.” He grabs whatever is left of the back of my shirt when I try to run and pushes me towards the couch. I flop down on it. It is unrealistically soft and firm at the same time and I sink into it. Exhaustion sinks back into my bones, adrenaline leaving me just as fast.
Techno comes back and shoves a bowl of soup into my chest. He stands across from me and sits in it with his arms crossed. I stare at the bowl of soup in my lap. It is unfairly warm and makes my body relax more. Phil comes over and drops a blanket over my shoulders. I want to shrug it off, but I’m still reeling over the temperature changes that are still happening.
“Are we going to talk about what just happened?” Technoblade leans over his knees and clasps his hands. Hooves? Don’t know, don’t care. I shrug. Phil sits next to me and puts a hand on my shoulder.
“Did- *ahem* Did Dream do this to you?” My eyes widened. They can’t know shit. I narrow my eyes. I don’t need any of this, We don’t need any of this. I shake my head.
“No, I haven’t been eating.” Phil looks taken back by my tone.
“What?” Phil sounds like he is going to cry. But that would mean absolutely no shit cause he's a favorite-choosing bastard. I shrug.
“There are cows everywhere, I don’t want to eat them.” I’m heavily relying on the fact of loving cows religiously, but that's the only way I can think of to get out of here. “ I haven’t been eating well cause I went vegetarian.”
Technoblade speaks up, “You live next to an ocean.” I raise an eyebrow.
“Why does that matter?” I try not to think of a long trip down.
“You can fish…”
.
.
.
“oh.”
I blush furiously, but I don’t say anything more. I start eating the bowl of soup. It's kinda cold now, but still good. I don’t have a spoon, so I just sip it…scratch that it's unfairly good so I down it.
“Can I go back?”
“What?” I’m really getting tired of answering these guys' questions, but I really need to get the fuck outta here. A swirly feeling comes back to my head and when I look at my fingers they look way too realistic. They go numb and I know I don’t have a lot of time left. I set the bowl on the table and pull the blanket tightly around my shoulders.
Let me GO BACK
I get up from the couch. Phil stands with me. He looks ready to catch me and I clutch the blanket around my shoulders tighter.
“I’m leaving.” Nope, no time for debate, I walk towards the door.
“Wha- I- Techno!” Phil looks slightly panicked/concerned. “You can stay, you know.” He had his hand outstretched slightly. I look at it to his face, towards where Techno is still sitting. He isn’t moving. He looks up at me and I can’t read him.
My expression darkens. In a way I know he doesn’t recognize. My eyes narrow and my long hair covers my eyes. My chin tilts up ever so slightly, so I am looking straight at Phil too.
“Bye.” I open the door to the outside. I’m wearing barely held together socks, a torn shirt, and shitty cargo pants. Closing the door, I spot shoes next to a chair. They aren’t massive like Techno’s and Phil only wears sandals. Not caring whose they are, I strap them on. They’re comfy.
Sending thanks to Prime, I start walking back to Logsted. But as soon as I can’t see the porch over a hill. I mad dash towards the woods.
Heading left.
