“Are you awake?” Jungkook whispered, shifting onto his side. The sleeping arrangements left Taehyung and Jin together in one hotel, sharing the bed, Namjoon, Hoseok, and Jimin in another room, with two beds, and Jungkook and Yoongi sharing the last hotel room with one bed.
Yoongi turned, still nestled under the covers with his eyes closed, but nodded nonetheless, humming softly in response.
“Did I wake you?” The younger of the two bit his cheek apologetically.
“No,” Yoongi muttered, “I never fall asleep before you. I worry too much.”
Jungkook sighed slightly, stretching his arms outside the blanket, “What would I do without you?” He laughed lightly.
“Be less famous? Not as cool without your older hyung?” Yoongi offered with a grin. Jungkook nudged his shoulder and rolled his eyes, “That question crosses my mind too sometimes. What I would be doing without BTS. Without you. But it makes me sad, so I try not to think too hard.”
“Smart,” Jungkook smiled sadly.
“Are you okay?” Yoongi asked carefully. Jungkook’s chest tightened. He just shook his head, “What’s wrong?”
“I know I should focus on the now, but it’s hard not to think about what will happen in the future when no one wants to see us anymore, when we’re too old to perform anymore, when bigger things are happening and the agency disbands us,” Jungkook choked, “This has been my everything since I was pretty young, and the end seems right around the corner sometimes.”
Yoongi inched closer, gathering him up in his arms and holding him to his chest tightly, “Me too,” he whispered, “but even when it’s over we’ll all still be here for you, together, like always. Besides, we’ll sooner decide to step off that stage before ARMY boo’s us off.” Jungkook nodded, snuggling closer and seeming suddenly like a child in Yoongi’s eyes, a scared kid who didn’t know what to do with himself. He held him closer, “We’re a family, okay? We’re not going anywhere. I promise.”
