They never expected the reveal to be so hectic.
It was a careless mistake really, both hero's ran out of time before they could even turn around to tell the other to hide somewhere else.
But in that pale moonlight behind a chimney, Marinette saw Adrien, and Adrien saw Marinette.
Adrien was speechless to the point where he lost his footing.
"Kitty?"
"I, I ... Ihave to go!" He fumbled before he fled into the night.
That was yesterday and Adrien stalled the best he could to get to school as late as possible. Considering the amount time he managed to buy, he did quite the excellent job, managing to get to school right before the bell rang, not to mention after Marinette did.
Oh,
Marinette,
Right,
She had spent all morning looking for him hadn't she?
Why did he waste her time so often?
He took his seat and hunched his shoulders.
Yeah, after avoiding what you were thinking of, having the knowledge that she was right behind you sucked majorly.
And class was going too quickly, please just let time stop.
However time did not in fact stop, and Adrien was once again being chased down by Marinette.
“Adrien, wait, we can talk this out.” She said following him, as he glided around corners.
“No! leave me alone!”
All he wanted to do was scream save me and dive into her arms
"Adrien please what did I do?"
"Nothing let me go please,"
He didn't have the heart to tell her how he felt.
"Please I'm sorry, what ever I did I'm so sorry,"
Adrien reached his locker and tried to grab as many things as possible at once. Would the moon be an appropriate place to live? No too close, Mars, yes Mars would do!
Before Adrien could go looking for a rocket ship, Lila decided to open her big fat stupid mouth.
"Marinette, Adrien clearly wants nothing to do with you right now, can't you take a hint that he will never love you?”
Well that just about got the attention of everyone and their mom! Lila feigned guilt as she covered her mouth in a counterfeit surprise, but before she could fake her apology, a loud "SHUT UP LILA!" Was heard from Adrien as his teary eyes made contact with Marinette's and he finally let everything out.
"Marinette I love you so much it hurts! I'm trying I really am trying I just need time to accept that you don't feel the same okay? I know you like someone else and I can keep my feelings in check I,"
His tears ran down off his cheeks as he swallowed back a sob.
" I just need time okay?"
Marinette finally got close enough to Adrien to wipe the tears from his face as gently as she could, "Oh Adrien, you were the other boy and I love you, I've been desperately in love with you since the day we met. You gave me your umbrella, remember? It was raining,"
She held his hands in her own, thumbs brushing along his skin to calm him down.
"I was so speechless yesterday because I didn't know it was possible that the kind,funny,handsome,heroic gentleman I've always known and definitely fell for, was also my kind,funny, handsome,heroic classmate and longtime crush. I've been chasing you all day because we definitely need to talk but I was maybe wondering if you would like to see a movie afterwards?"
Adrien pulled her into a hug, silently crying on her shoulder, "Yes Marinette, definitely yes!”
“Shhh shhh my kitty, it's okay, I'm here.”
He let out a wet sniff and mumbled something in to her shoulder, she only responded with, "I can always wash it , don't worry about it."
"I love you Mari!”
"I love you two. I love you so much Adrien!
And with that Nino took off his glasses to make sure he was seeing this correctly and Alya looked down at her travel mug and said,
"Yep, I'm gonna need more coffee."
