Work Text:
A heavy grunt left you as your back hit the mat, Natasha straddling you with a sickly sweet smile on her face.
“I’m pretty tired from kicking your ass. This is what - 7 for 10?” She smirked, releasing her grip on your shoulders before rolling off of you.
You sat up, wiping the sweat pooling on your brow, before looking at her with a glare.
“That’s not fair, you’ve been doing this since you left the womb.”
“And you’re an Avenger for a reason, quit whining.” She paused as the gym doors opened, Steve and Bucky walking in. “Oh good, you have a new sparring partner.”
You rolled your eyes. “There’s no way I’m sparring with Steve. Last time he literally refused to hit me.”
She laughed at the memory - you had only been with the team a few weeks and Nat was gone for the day, leaving Sam and Steve as your only options for sparring. He had basically played defense the entire time, keeping enough distance that it was less like fighting and more like a very annoying game of tag. When he finally got close enough for you to make a move, he let you take him down without any effort and you had thrown a weight at him in frustration. You hadn’t stepped in the ring together since then.
“Oh no, he’s just picking me up for date night.” You took a second glance and sure enough, he wasn’t in gym clothes but in jeans and an ungodly tight button up shirt. “You’ll just have spar with Barnes instead.”
At that you let out an audible groan, finally picking yourself off the floor, and heading toward the bench to get a drink of water. Of course, out of the hundred feet of wood attached to the wall, he chose to set his bag 10 inches from you.
“Hey, lover , heard you’re stuck with me today,” he said, the sheer cockiness radiating off of him in waves. If you were a worse person you would miss the days when he didn’t talk to anyone but Steve and left you alone.
“I’ve told you not to call me that, Barnes,” you grumbled, checking the wrap on your hands before stepping back into the sparring ring.
You watched with your arms crossed as Bucky wrapped his own hands, then stepped in front of you, fists raised up.
“I know, but it’s so fun to see you get flustered.” You rolled your eyes again before tapping your fists to his, then stepping back into your fighting stance.
“I’m not flustered, just allergic to assholes.” Without warning you lunged at him, causing him to stumble a few paces until he regained himself.
Done with your usual banter, he rightened himself, and you circled each other like two big cats itching for a fight - which if you were honest with yourself, you kinda were.
After a few rounds of getting your ass handed to you - I mean, come on, the guy was a super soldier, and not afraid of hurting you like someone - you finally got the upper hand, taking his feets out from under him, pinning his shoulders down with your knees.
You pumped your fists in the arm, ecstatic that your hard work had paid off, and he used your celebration as a distraction to flip you on your back, hands held above your head.
“Jesus, you’re hot,” he breathed.
“ What? ” you practically screamed, wiggling underneath him. You moved in such a way that your hips bucked up, and you could feel the hardness in his gym shorts. “Fuck it.”
You surged forward, crashing your lips to his so hard your teeth knocked together, but he took it in stride. His hands released your own to wander down your body, gripping your hips and lifting them to press against him again.
“I knew you’ve always had a thing for me.” His voice was an octave lower than you, the sound of it shooting straight to your core.
“Shut the fuck up or get off me,” you hissed.
His hands had just started to pull down the waistband of your shorts when the gym door opened again.
“Sorry guys, I just forgot my - Jesus fucking Christ we all work out here! ” Steve stopped just inside the door, shouting at you both to have some decency. Bucky, having none, made to move to get out of your compromising position, and Steve just turned around to walk out, shouting to Sam that he owed him twenty dollars.
