your mom
is someone
who is there
for you,
until he takes
her away,
and you are
alone.
and then
you meet her.

with sharp canines,
and warm yellow irises,
and a smile
full of sadness.
and he
undermines her skin
like he does yours.
and you really
truly
hate him
for the first time.
and he
forces you
to
push past
her boundaries
as well.
but she doesn’t hate
you.
she hates him,
but she
knows
how much
he hurts you.
and so
she doesn’t hate you.
and she promises
to
never
leave.
but
people
break
promises.
and she is no
exception.
you are
alone,
again,
and she left you,
like everyone
else.
two years pass,
and you are
in the woods,
and you are terrified,
and you look up.
and you see her.
her,
with sharp knives,
and cold yellow irises,
and a smile
full of madness.
and you tell the boy
who she always wanted
to protect,
that she is gone,
and he manages
to hurt you
more than she has.
and the boy
with another smile
full of sadness
is terrified
of her.
because she
has said that she
will never leave him
alone.
and you
cannot tell the evergreen boy
that you don’t know if you want to
save him from her,
or her from herself.
and he,
who destroyed her,
who destroyed you,
tells you that sidekicks have been found
dripping in her
crimson destruction.
and you know
that she wants revenge,
and you know
that you have always loved her,
and you know
that she is gone.
you know
that you are
alone.
