Marjan liked hanging out with the 126 crew. They were all cool to hang out with. Marjan especially enjoyed hanging out with Nancy. Nancy may be a nerd and Marjan a jock, but they got on well. Marjan especially loved laughing with Nancy. Nancy was funny and good at her job.
Marjan was hanging out with TK and Nancy near their ambulance.
“I’m going to go head out for the evening. You have fun, though. Don't do anything I wouldn't do,” TK said as he left when their shift ended.
“Want to go out tonight?” Nancy asked.
“Yea, definitely,” Marjan responded.
Nancy and Marjan got changed, and they followed Nancy to wherever she was taking them.
When they got there, Marjan saw that it was a sapphic bar. Marjan had only recently realised that she was bisexual, and how did Nancy know she had not told anyone yet. She knew that Nancy was a lesbian but did she have a gaydar that knew about her?
“I enjoyed coming here and thought we could laugh here,” Nancy said.
Marjan walked in and saw it was a regular bar. It was just ninety per cent women. So Nancy and Marjan took a table and sat down. Marjan was cool. She could do this. Nancy does not know that she has a crush on her.
“I’ll go get us drinks, Lemonades good?” Nancy asked.’
Marjan nodded and looked around. It was a rustic place, very minimalistic and seemed like she would like to come to more when she is out.
Nancy comes back with the lemonades and sets one down in front of Marjan. She sits at the other end of the table and takes a sip from her drink.
“Want to hear something funny?” Marjan said.
“GO on,” Marjan said.
She was looking forward to hearing what Nancy was going to say. Nany was always funny. She had the most remarkable stories from work and from her hobbies like playing chess and competitive dance. All those things and Marjan's hobbies and working as first responders allowed them to have a similar sense of humour.
Marjan laughed at Nancy's story about what happened at her chess club and how someone flew through the wall like a spell had been cast on them. They were both laughing so hard and just enjoying each other’s presence.
“I have something to confess to you,” Marjan said.
“Go on,” Nancy said.
Marjan knew that this was the moment she could tell her the truth. She was ready to come out.
“I’m bisexual,” Marjan said.
“All right,” Nancy said.
“I only started realising that recently. But you and I laugh, and I thought we were friends. So it would be great to come out to you,” Marjan said.
“It’s great that you feel comfortable coming out to me,” Nancy said.
Nancy took Marjan’s hand and held it in hers. After laughing with Nancy and confessing that she was bisexual and them being here, Marjan gained the confidence, she plunged in and kissed Nancy. Nancy kissed her back. The kiss was soft. Nancy felt like a safe place. It was the first time she kissed a woman, and it was good. Nancy tasted like the lemonade that she was drinking.
“Marjan, we laugh, and I like you,” Nancy admitted.
“I like you too, Nancy. I’m new to this, but we can have more nights like this. I enjoyed it,” Marjan said.
Marjan and Nancy laughed and enjoyed the rest of their evening just getting to know each other and having fun.
