Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

Tail taps lightly hit against the ground as the wind brushed against a pale pink pelt. "Somebody better explain what's going on here." The molly let out a low snarl, lightly bearing her teeth. The wind began to push harder, she stood to her paws and lifted her head upwards sniffing for any scents nearby.

Nothing. There were no scents. She couldn't even feel the cold wind, nor the ground her paws were placed upon. She looked around for a moment, head slowly turning side to side. But once again, nothing. Nothing at all. The only thing close were dark red trees, and the sky painted with a deep violet.

Strands of fur stood on edge, and her ears slowly retreated backwards. She hunched downwards, padding forward carefully. Every pawstep was dainty and prepared. Her tail began to wrap around her back leg and she kept all of herself close together.

Soon she arrived near a lake, the water seemed to be a maroon red, it matched the moon above her. She peered down into it. the water rippled her reflection, distorting it with every movement she made. Her head pushed down and she lapped up a few licks of water. Though something shiny appeared within her eyesight.

Her head jerked back up and she stared down into the pool with widened eyes. Her eyes squinted and she attempted to look closer, though when she moved her head down something forced it's way out. It swooped around her side, grabbing the back of her head and pushed her inward.

She let out a breath and held it before being dragged under. She could slightly feel the water rushing against her pelt, and the sharp claws against her. The claws softened as another paw pressed against the other side of her head. She opened her mouth to hiss but water flooded in.

She began to bash in all directions, struggling as the liquid flooded her lungs. Her paws drifted up, and with what little strength she had left she pushed the paws off of her. Slowly everything became a blur and dizziness overwhelmed her.

Once she awoke she was greeted by only the warmth of the sun. She felt weak, her head was heavily and she could hardly lift a paw. Water came quickly from her throat and she coughed it out, staring down with her jaw open wide.

She glanced up. she was in the middle of her clan's territory. Green trees surrounded her, and relief flushed her allowing her pelt to rest at last. Though she could now see a grin shining within the shadows of the trees. She hunched down again, hissing.

An orange and black pelt could now be seen, and amber eyes lightly shone in the darkness. She stopped hissing and stood back up once again. But this time with wide eyes. "Scorchedflame? Is that you?-" she didn't wait for an answer, she ran over quickly and pressed against him.

"I'm so happy to see you, it's been so l-" his paw hushed her and her face filled with concern. "An ocean will overcome the clans. It will leave everything within it's path ruined. Be prepared." His expression turned dull, and he faded away, leaving her struck with worry.
