It starts completely accidentally. Rhonda gets hurt, worse than before, and Heather explodes with anger, taking out several Graboids, moving to help Rhonda inside and clean up. Later, when they are trapped alone on the roof, the others trapped across several other rocks and homes, won’t see what happens.
Rhonda nestles into Heather almost accidentally, the two star-gazing and finding some comfort in being together. They won’t have to miss having company, even with Burt and Val out in the middle of the danger, they can still have one another. Somehow it’s enough. It’s enough to be here, together, staring up at the stars and sleeping when they can.
