    Sometimes, he wakes with blood on his hands.

    When he does, he scrubs his hands till they’re rubbed raw, till his skin turns pink and scraped. Even then, he still isn’t satisfied, because the blood on his hands still reigns in his mind’s eye.

    So, when he meets her and has his heart stolen, and has his mind consumed, and has his whole being taken, he thinks, "Do I dare?"
