Chapter Text
Her grief poured out in a flood of uncontrollable tears. Gut-wrenching sobs tore through her chest as she covered her face with shaking hands, not bothering to wipe her tears.
I was devastated, this was all my fault. I inched towards her, my eyes wet with tears, my throat tight. Her body felt cold to the touch. She looked up, aghast.
Her lips parted into an O, her breath and voice caught in her throat. Tears flowed. Time stood like never before, her pupils dilated.
“You are alive ... alive ... alive”, she seemed to repeat it to make herself believe I was alive and well.
“Percy, tell me this is real. Tell me you are alive,” the distraught tone sucked my energy into the void.
With all my energy drained, I nodded.
“Answer me, Percy. Please”
“Yes,” I croaked, with a little more strength, my voice hoarse.
She hugged me like there was nothing else in the world that mattered. The look of pure joy in her eyes made me pale. I never understood her love for myself, which I took for granted times too many.
She pulled me off her, “Where have you been? I was worried past death,”
“Alaska”
“Alaska? What were you up to?”
“I was preparing to retire from Greek World.”
She nodded her head, “You could have told me, anyone”
