Work Text:

“Hey,” Carmilla purred into her girlfriend’s ear. “There you are. Dance floor was starting to get lonely out here,” she added, hips swaying to the low rumble of the club’s bass.

“Just needed a quick drink.” Laura leaned back into Carmilla’s body, guiding the vampire’s hands to settle comfortably, one on her hip and - surprisingly - on her breast with a loose grin. “Although I still feel too warm. But also chilly?” She peered up at the ceiling. “W-we aren’t under an air vent or something-ng, are–” Her voice trailed off as she went slack in Carmilla’s arms.

Carmilla immediately cursed herself for having let Laura out of her sight; she should have recognized rohypnol symptoms sooner, though that was part of Will’s bag of tricks, not hers. For now though, she slung the pop-tart over her shoulder and pushed her way through the still bopping crowd, heedless of their stares. She could hear how slow Laura’s pulse was, and that meant she had to act fast. She picked up speed as they left the dance floor behind, careening towards the women’s bathroom. She’d never tried a Janssen procedure before, but she’d done a lot of new things for Laura, and, well, failing didn’t bear thinking about.

Laura blinked back to consciousness with a stinging pain on her left collarbone. She winced and took stock of her surroundings. Sitting on a grody club toilet? Not great. Two puncture marks in her shoulder? She didn’t remember things getting particularly heated with–

“Carm?” Laura staggered to her feet and out of the stall, where she promptly bumped into Carmilla. Huh; usually Carmilla’s reflexes were better than that. She squinted at the vampire, blood trickling from the corner of her goofy grin.

“Hey, Laura… forgot how nice you taste. Mmm.” She licked her lips with sluggish care.

“Carmilla! Did you bite me? No, don’t answer that, of course you bit me. Why did you bite me? Wait: are you high?”

“So- so many questions.” Carmilla frowned. “Am I high? Huh. Hey, you were high, so don’t judge,” she continued proudly. Then, back to frowning. “I’mma kill that bartender, spiked your drink.” Her surly tone flashed back to triumph. “But don’ worry! I saved your life. I drank the drugs out of your body!” Her exaggerated whisper made Laura giggle. “Mm, tasty, tasty Laura.”

“That…potentially explains a lot, actually! Ugh, come on, let’s get you home.” Now it was Laura’s turn to support some of Carmilla’s weight, slipping an arm around her to steady her girlfriend’s gait. “My heroine,” she concluded, placing a chaste kiss on her cheek.

Notes:

Title and story are inspired by Pyotr’s Story, by Spider Robinson, in which a vampire drinks the alcohol out of a badly-overdosing man’s blood.
