Mobius was focused on his case and did not hear Loki enter his office. It was only when a can of Josta entered his field of vision that he realized he was no longer alone.
He felt two familiar hands resting on his shoulders and starting to massage him gently. He couldn't hold back a grunt of contentment at the sensation of his muscles loosening. He put his head back to meet Loki's gaze, "Hey handsome."
"Hey there." replied Loki softly as he leaned in to give him a light kiss on the nose.
Mobius straightened up and spun his chair so that Loki was between his legs. He tightened his arms around his lover's slender waist and rested his head on his belly as Loki's hands gently massaged his scalp.
He sighed, "Sweetheart you take such good care of me."
Loki grumbled, "I have to, since you don't do it yourself."
Mobius raised his head to look at his lover and as he did so Loki's tie tickled his nose.
This made him think back to their argument in front of the elevator, when Loki had made that rather bold move.
Mobius had been so exasperated by the way Loki had tried to fool them, to fool him. And even though Mobius had stuck his neck out for him with Ravonna, Loki continued to be so arrogant and infuriating. Mobius had blown a fuse.
"I believed, stupidly, that insecure need for validation would motivate you to find the killer. Not 'cause you care about the TVA mission or bein' a hero, but because you know this Variant is better than you and you can't take it."
Loki had looked at him with that cheeky smile and replied in a falsely smarmy voice, "Very nice."
Then unexpectedly, he had moved closer to Mobius and beginning to adjust his tie knot, he had said mockingly "I mean, it is adorable that you think you could possibly manipulate me."
In retrospect, Mobius thought that fortunately at that moment he was far too upset not to act on his feelings, because nothing would have stopped him from closing Loki's mouth with a kiss.
"Mobius?"
At his lover's voice, Mobius snapped out of his reverie and told himself that it was never too late to act on an impulse. He stood up and grabbing Loki's tie, he pulled him to him and captured his lips in a passionate kiss.
When they parted to catch their breath, cheeks flushed, Loki asked in surprise, "What was that for?"
Mobius, who had not let go of Loki's tie, raised his other hand and began to tighten the knot in Loki's tie and said with a hint of mischief in his voice, "It's a payback."
Loki frowned, "A payback?"
Mobius raised himself on his toes and whispered in his ear, "For saying I was adorable in front of the elevator."
Loki shook his head and chuckled softly as he tightened his arms around Mobius.
"You were adorable then and you're adorable now."
This time it was he who pressed his lips to Mobius' and much later they were both forced to put both their ties back in order.
