The woods were silent beyond Mobius’ heart beating in his chest, the whirlwind of his thoughts echoed by the occasional gust of icy wind that teased up swirls of snow and hissed through the branches overhead.
In most seasons he wouldn’t mind the solitude, but he’d heard more wolves in the woods these past few nights than he had in a long while.
