True Hearts Day, a holiday once lost in time, though now celebrated in secret by the students of Ever After High, the holiday of love, relationships, and overall joy, when Cupid first discovered it, she couldn’t believe her eyes that it had been shelved away for the rest of forever- forever is a long time, after all. She couldn’t imagine someone had so much power in a realm to be able to cancel a tradition older than he was even ever conceived.

The other dimension shared a holiday of this theme as well, Valentine’s Day. It was a wondrous holiday- even if the last one Cupid celebrated wasn’t spelltacular, it ended on a good note, and isn’t that what matters? The population of Monster High had an enjoyable holiday and it was because everything ended great! Though… that’s the last time she rushes into an idea with no plans. (That’s one of the biggest lies she’s ever told herself.)

Though now the cherub finds herself in a predicament, she wanted to prepare something big- something hexciting for her newly gained girlfriend and long-time roommate, Blondie Lockes. It took them quite a lot of pining to get there, don’t get the love archer wrong. Now they were here and that’s spellbinding and all but this is the first year she’s ever had to spend Valentine’s preparing plans for herself instead of someone else. She was a matchmaker, not a love goddess- well she was that too but you get the point!

She was pacing back and forth within their shared dorm, Blondie was out with Apple for the moment, she hadn’t dug into the specifics but she could only assume the future queen needed help with her own plans for her White Knight of Wonderland. Well, it bought her some more time to plan- along with time to visit the rebel leader for help. When she had knocked on the door and explained her current dilemma, the witch let out a kindhearted chuckle, a pout forming on the pink-haired girl’s expression as Raven tried to explain her outburst.

“She’s head over heels for you, Cupid. There’s nothing you can do that she wouldn’t love.” Raven insisted, putting a reassuring hand on Cupid’s shoulder. Cupid whined to the response, that was the exact thing she was worried about! She met eyes with Raven’s purple irises, she had to look up to meet her gaze, Cupid was, unfortunately, Raven’s words, not hers, “fun-sized”.

“I’m the goddess of love, Raven. I know she’ll love anything I’ll do and that’s the problem! I want her to actually like it!” Cupid ranted, the Ex-Evil Queen quickly came up with a retort, her expression lax and amused as her arms remained crossed at her chest as she leaned against the doorframe of her dorm. The cherub was almost irritated by how relaxed the other looked while talking about this.

“The point of love is to enjoy anything when you’re with them or did you forget, oh mighty goddess of love.” She mocked, nudging the flustered angel of love. Though she continued with a thoughtful expression. “You don’t have to be perfect about it and I’m sure if Blondie knew you tried, she’d say the same thing as me and scold you for worrying so much,” Raven let out a small snicker before continuing. “as long as you’re together, anything will be fun for her.” She finished, her expression was reassuring. Cupid felt… touched by her words.

“That’s… actually really helpful, thanks, Raven.” Cupid was awestruck honestly, Raven was right. She had put too much pressure on herself even though the main principle of love is for you to just… enjoy their company no matter what you’re doing, from exploring the Enchanted Forest to just cuddling together quietly.

“I don’t mind, Cupid. Sometimes people just need a small reminder of the simpler things.” She hummed, a gentle look of sincerity resting on her face, Cupid let out a soft chortle as she called back a quick reply to the others' advice.

“Strong words for someone, that I seem to have to remind, is lacking plans today.” She teased with a mischievous smirk, for a moment she could have sworn she saw Raven falter and her expression become more solemn, causing the girl to ponder if she had genuinely hurt the other with her comment, but as quickly as it came, it disappeared and was replaced with a grin.

“Well, excuse you. I do have plans.” Raven challenged with a lighthearted expression. “My plans are to sneak out past curfew and go to every store in the area and buy expensive chocolates for half the normal price.” She remarked with finger guns towards the other. Raven was a queen, she had more than enough money to buy full price. Although they both knew why she wanted to stay out of the dorm tonight.

“You know, if you hate third-wheeling so much, I’m sure if you actually put yourself out there, you could get someone who loves you- that isn’t weird like Dexter,” Cupid assured, punching the magical girl lightly on the shoulder, Raven let out a small sigh as she rubbed the spot she was punched.

“I’m sure I could too- I’m just not looking for that. I barely know what the future holds and I want to figure that out before anything else. Who knows? Maybe I can’t get out of being imprisoned for the rest of eternity.” She wondered to herself, her expression growing grimmer before snapping herself out of it and smiling again in her usual smug manner.

“I’m free until tonight if you need help with setting up your plans. My magic can do just about anything” Raven offered, trying to get them back on a lighter topic, Cupid paused before an idea came to mind, snapping her fingers and beaming at Raven as soon as it hit her.

“Actually, I do!” Cupid proclaimed with an earnest look.

“So, when can I look?” Blondie asked, a blindfold tied to her head as Cupid held her hand tightly and led her somewhere, she didn’t seem unnerved and completely trusted Cupid- it was Tur Heart’s Day, of course, the bringer of love would do something for her.

“Shh! Not yet!” Cupid giggled as she continued to lead her into the unknown. She had put her entire heart and soul into this idea, excited to finally show Blondie the execution but was just anxious as she brought them both there.

Blondie felt grass below her shoes as they seemed to walk up a… hill? That’s what it felt like until Cupid wrapped her arms around her waist and began to float them upwards. The reporter would never get used to being airborne but she wasn’t flailing in panic much like the first time Cupid had brought her in the sky.

Though the lift ended much quicker than their last few expeditions, Cupid sat her down before undoing the blindfold. Before Blondie’s eyes, they were sitting on a tall hill, a picnic blanket underneath them and a basket sitting next to her, a few pastries already displayed. Blondie was about to cheer out but Cupid put a finger to her lips.

“The best part hasn’t started, my love.”

That’s all she said as she sat next to Blondie and looked up, leaning onto her girlfriend’s shoulder as she watched the sky, Blondie couldn’t tell what she was looking for, the stars were all the same and-

That’s when a pink jolt began shooting up towards the sky, then exploded into a heart! It was a firework- well it didn’t exactly look like fireworks but it seemed like a much more enhanced version of the usual light show, though it lacked a loud popping noise- Blondie wasn’t a fan of loud noises and appreciated the lack of noise that came with them, the sound was like of pop rocks, fizzling as they continued.

The fireworks were usually patterns, hearts, bear heads, and the normal fireworks, along with a few messages fully personalized, an example being “For my Sunshine <3”. Yes, she actually included the text emote as if someone was copying messages she had sent them.

Cupid had wiggled her way into Blondie’s lap, using her thighs as a pillow as she watched the assortment of lights, grabbing a macaron from the side on occasion and eating it, or feeding her angel above her. She was lovesick and she had no complaints about it.

Blondie only giggled at her actions, a wide smile remaining on her face as she admired her girlfriend, stroking her hair gently as she gazed down lovingly at the cherub, admiring every bit of her in the darkness of the night sky, the fireworks ended with a simple message.

“I love you to the sun and back, mon cheri.”

Then a heart shot up, and the light show ended, Cupid looked up expectantly, her expression shy, her emotions aflutter as she asked in a soft voice “What did you think?” She had a hopeful glint in her eyes as she awaited her answer, clearly antsy.

Blondie only smiles. “It was just right, just like you.” as she leans down to kiss her lover, nothing could ruin their shared bliss of this perfect night.

Raven, sitting in the Enchanted Forest and shooting the sky with finger guns to shoot out fireworks:

Writer's block finally recovered so I wanted to celebrate and use this ship for my buds
