The smell of ash lingers in the scorched room, it’s acrid scent burning images of what happened into the minds of those who come near. Therefore most of the castle residents choose to avoid the room in hopes to avoid the darkened mood encompassing the castle.
It’s better that way, Norrix thinks flatly, stepping into the ruined remains of Lucia’s room. He never was the kind of person who enjoyed being around people before, but now, with the one person he wanted around gone?
Yeah… better to be alone now.
It's only when he feels wet drops on his hands that he realizes he’s crying. He had been staring at the soot-stained furniture, thoughts of what-ifs and could-have-beens breaking his heart all the more. Images of a happier world, where he had confessed, and Lucia was alive washed away with the silent splashes, reality settling in.
Lucia is gone.
Lucia is dead.
She’s gone for good, and he wonders darkly if there even was anything he could have done to save her.
He wants to sob, to scream, to let loose and drown in his grief, but… he can’t.
Lucia wouldn’t want him to, he knows. She’d want him to move on, help people, be a better person. She’d want him to be happy, but… he can’t
So he curls into himself and grits his teeth, tears streaming silently.
He cries, and wishes things could be different.
