“i just don’t see why i can’t use regular silverwa-“ a smack against his arm caught childe’s attention, shutting him up before he made a fool of himself any further.
”if you plan on staying in liyue, you should become accustomed to our cultural values. this includes using chopsticks like us natives.” you huffed, growing rather annoyed at the red head’s audacity.
you put your hand out, handing off a pair of chopsticks to the young man before you only to watch as he struggled to hold them properly.
a snort escaped you, “no, like this-“ your hand moved to place itself above his, grip gentle as you moved the sticks to their correct positions.
though the contact was brief, your face warmed at the close proximity.
”now,” you moved away, “if you can’t at least remember how morax taught you, i think the heavens may just strike you down.”
this time it was childe’s turn to laugh, eyes crinkling before he realized your joke may just be the truth.
”oh, right-“ he huffed, focusing on opening and closing the chopsticks as he was instructed.
”speaking of zhongli,” he paused, before going to dig in the little bag that sat beside him, “i bought a pair of chopsticks like the ones he gave me.”
”what do you m-“
”these. these are for you.” childe gifted a long box to you, watching with excitement as you slowly opened it.
a gasp drew from your lips, your eyes darting to childe’s own before closing the box hesitantly.
”are you aware of what gifting a pair of dragon-phoenix chopsticks to someone means?”
”zhongli said it meant you appreciate the person you’re gifting them to, and i appreciate you.”
oh, boy. you shook your head, eyes closed as you clutched the box close to you.
”childe,” you trailed, figuring the best way to tell the true meaning was to be blunt. “it’s a marriage proposal.”
