Work Text:
Skies roaring. Winds wailing. Roof creaking. All was the making of a horrid night outside, yet one of comfort within the castle walls.
The fire crackled within its hearth as it warmed the two figures that huddled next to it. A Hunter and a Speaker were clung to each other, afraid that the latter would slip through their fingers again.
It had been within the same day that Trevor realized he was going to be a father, and the same day that Sypha almost made the worst decision of her life. Neither would ever be alone again, nor would they want to separate themselves from each ot
her. Or from the new family of theirs that was ever-growing.
What were the lonely nights that left her haunted and anxious for the longest two weeks ever became silent with his touch. Trevor’s coarse fingers brushed against her soft, tear-stained cheeks and only then did Sypha realize that she had been crying.
Looking up at Trevor, Sypha could see every emotion that had been lingering within the crevices of his soul and the lacerations as its proof. His blue eyes never left her gaze as one hand cupped her cheek and the other lingered on the small bump that held their new legacy.
It was a hell on Earth for Trevor to be separated from her, and he couldn’t fathom how or what Sypha felt when she thought he was….it was still too fresh in their minds.
“I love you”, he uttered to break the tense silence. Sypha offered him a watery smile in return.
“Trevor…I know. I always know.”
He kissed her on the lips for the night before taking her into his arms.
“You better know, just remember…I’ll always love you, and our child.”
