Summary:

Based off the same fantasy + human setting that I created for Fae!Greta and dhamphir-vampire Alucard

For day 2, prompt 2: Sir Trevor and Lady Mage Sypha are ordered to go on a quest that has the unlikeliest turn of events for them.

Work Text:

Sir Trevor may have had a liking for quests back in his green days, but somehow this felt as an insult to him. A diplomatic mission, with a week on the road, with the Mage Clan’s best and brightest. All to best represent the human kingdoms and villages to the fae and other supernatural that lived on the continent.

What could go wrong? The strongest of the kingdom’s knights, representing the Belmont line, along with the soft-spoken yet fiery-tempered cleric mage against whatever man or beast had nefarious intent? No, not a problem at all.

As soon as they had departed for their two-week journey, the events that followed were relentless. Bandits, night creatures, rogue magical creatures with no allegiance to any of the kingdoms, and the ever-meddling priests from the Church who’d rather cause chaos than seek peace.

It was after one particular night of fending off from some creatures that they finally divulged into a routine of theirs that had cultivated somewhat into an unconventional friendship.

A rogue gremlin came at Sypha, armed to the teeth as she dodged out its way.

“Shit!”

Her sudden exclamation turned Trevor’s attention to her, a surprised expression painted across his face as he cut down one of the few goblins they encountered.

“What did you just say?”

Sypha made quick work of the gremlin until it was a pile of ash before she wiped the sweat from her brow, and turned to face him.

“I said shit, ok?!”

As they made their way back to the wagon, Sypha rolled her eyes as she caught a bit of an amused smile on Trevor’s face.

“I know that…it’s just that I’ve never heard you curse before, like that.”

With an annoyed huff and crossed arms, Sypha firmly planted herself on the wagon’s bench before Trevor urged the horses on for their journey.

“I never used to before, but then I met you, and now I’m just like you!”

A hint of frustration laced his retort as he pinched the bridge of his nose.

“I’ll keep that in mind next time we come across these rude fuckers. Better to get our job over with than dragging on…”

Little did they both come to regret their words on the day of their long-awaited beloved nupitals, amongst the stares of both the supernatural and human courts.
