A Home of Honey and Hot Chocolate

Summary:

She closed her eyes and, instead of answering, Gem shifted until her lips brushed against his, no regards given to either morning breath or their drowsiness as they slowly moved, tasting the liquid honey off of each other. Nectar and ambrosia mixed, and Gem melted into the dulcet embrace, and their lazy but adoring strokes.

Notes:

This is set in Gem's 1.18 Let's Play series, but I tagged it as Hermitcraft anyways because yes.

If you even remotely know me, then you actually should have expected that I'd post a Valentine's Day special, as short as this is. And you should also have known that It'd be a rarepair. (Although I do apologize if you expected other rarepairs *side eyes the OTPs of Gridoc and Tangtho*)

Enjoy<3

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Gem had thought (and thoroughly hoped) that it would be the sun's golden rays trickling through the window and caressing the two lovers' skin just as tenderly as they caressed each other that slowly woke them - and by no means Lucy's desperate squawks as Jellie hunted her for sport.

She groaned, and in the fear she'd actually want to intervene, Scar's grip around her tightened. His head moved out of her hair just enough that he could call out to his pet, voice altogether sleep-laced, "Jellie, you rapscallion, leave Lily be"

She giggled against his chest. It was anybody's guess as to whether Mr. GoodTimes actually confused names, or if he did it to jest at this point, but it was funny nonetheless.

"What?" he asked, dejected and yet amused.

Ever-talented, Scar moved just right, with such ease and skill that all embers in her body, nearly doused as they were, th-

A weight slammed into her full force, knocking all air out of her lungs and very rudely disrupting the joy of the moment. The rather disgruntled Jellie on her chest was not letting them have this, it seemed.

Scar chuckled, slightly out of breath, "Someone's getting jealous", his one hand unclasped from around her to pet his kitty, the grim of her face slowly melting as Gem herself had been just moments prior; Scar's ministrations did that to a girl.

Once content, Jellie repositioned herself onto Scar's lap and started purring. In her feline declaration of love and comfort and the hand still around her Gem found nothing but a domesticity that left her heart a soft goo and turned her knees to literal jellie. Before she exploded with happiness and her face got any hotter, she nestled it in the crook of her boyfriend's neck.

They lay like that for only a handful of ticks, just long enough that it dawned upon both of them that their hearts were pumping pure serotonin at rates too quick for either to fall back asleep. And just as she thought to ask, Scar was first.

"Morning Playlist?"

"On it", she said. And proceeded to not move for a few more ticks, lest her brain had fully chosen it was time. Then only did she let the soft jazz of their 'Dreamy Mornings' Playlist envelop them.

It was calm and ease, serene and fragile. It was familiar as cared-for and loved cashmere pullovers, devoid of their novel lustre, but still just as warm, familiar as the lyrics of your favorite song that never became a bore, even after hundreds of minutes spent listening. It was comforting as the smiles of your favorite actors in movie scenes you'd seek in your dark times, and the taste of your guilty pleasure beverage flushing through you.

It was home.

"Sca-ar~"

He hummed in response, his thumb tracing featherlight patterns along her waist.

"Should I get us some hot chocolate?"

"You'd have to stand up for that" Gem didn't need to look at him to know that he was pouting.

"I'll be quick, I promise"

"No", and his grip around her became almost too tight, pulling her in even more than she'd thought possible, "Don't go anywhere where I can't follow"

Perhaps, if they hadn't been burrowed beneath warm blankets, relishing in each other's warmth, still swimming in their dreams and enjoying the lithe breeze of saxophone, piano and bass, the serendipity of the moment, the beauty of the promise, might have struck them as more important. Perhaps. Perhaps not.

"But it's cold, you could get sick. And do you really want to strap on the prosthesis for a trip to the kitchen and then take it off again?"

"I don't have to take it back of-"

Before he could even finish, Gem slapped the taut skin of his hip bone, "Yes you do! I'm not letting you back in this bed if you're wearing that cold thing!"

Scar guffawed at that, "Aww man, and I didn't bring my wheelchair. Guess there's no other way than to barricade you in bed with me"

She sighed inwardly. Scar was a sly little bastard. "I'll eventually have to stand up, you do realize that?"

"That, my dear Gem, is a problem for future me. Present me would much rather keep you here"

Correction: Scar was her sly little bastard.
