"When you look at the mirror, do you see yourself or for yourself?" - Dominic Riccitello

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

She doesn't know how long she has spent in the Duviri, or how long it's been since the Zariman Ten-Zero incident.

What she does know is what she has to do. Her mission, to lay out the events for the future. She thinks about him and blames him for what he did. It's his fault her fellow classmates disappeared. That the Zariman crew and adults were driven mad by the void and her parents dead. She remembers how afraid she was when she escaped the Zariman and remembers the endless gray dunes, incomprehensible sky, dead commanding officers and skeletal horses, and chaos-

"Operator, are you alright? My scans indicate that your heart beat and blood pressure are high." Ordis, her ship cephalon says after cutting of her memories.

She chuckles grimly, only realizing how worked up she had been getting. "Just thinking Ordis. No need to worry about me." Though she could tell it wasn't entirely enough to convince him.

"Are you sure, Operator? I could provide medication if-"

"I said don't worry about me, I'm fine." She speaks forcefully and cuts him off. She shouldn't have said it but she didn't have a choice.

"Alright… operator if you say so." Ordis says dejectedly.

It pains her to hear his tone but she needed time to think right now. He was almost out of the void that day, if it weren't for the Lotus closing the portal she would've been dead by now. His massive vitruvian sculpture like body, that stupid fucking grin on his face and a copy of her younger self on top of his head, laughing madly. Her nails drove into her suit. How dare he?

She shakes her head at those thoughts and can't help but miss her parents deeply, they were the only people who cared about her on the zariman. She then thought about Ordis' "sacrifice" against the Lotus when she didn't recognize her, it made her happy that her younger self had people that truly cared about her. It also made her somewhat jealous, but she didn't dwell on those feelings too much.

Her train of thought comes to an end when a ping comes through her speakers in her personal quarters. "Operator, there is an Infested outbreak on Ceres. Grineer transmissions in the area urgently request reinforcements. I have also prepared your Warframe."

She makes her way from her quarters to her arsenal, her warframe, a Hildryn praised for its high shield capacity. The frame was richly colored in black, grey, gold with hues of orange and greens. "Thanks Ordis… and I'm sorry for being rude to you." She speaks with guilt in her tone.

"It's fine, Operator. I shouldn't have disturbed you."

She smiled softly at his apology. "Still… don't worry about it. Have you rebuilt the portrait?" She asks.

"Not yet. I'll need at least another thirty minutes." She hummed and transferenced to her Warframe. No matter how many times she has done this, the feeling always gets her. Guess I'll never get used to this. She thinks. She'll ask her younger counterpart some other time. As she exits the arsenal and climbs up the ramp to land at the grineer base. "Ordis?" She asks.

"Yes, Operator?" He questions.

"You can call me Drifter."

Notes:

My first attempt at a fic and whoo boy is it hard. For those who are wondering what my Operator/Drifter's name is, it's Kali! I always wanted to write about her and also thank you @The_Armada_of_Ships with the proofreading!
