Summary
It’s late now on the beach, sitting side-by-side on the bay-front benches. Bif can feel Derby shivering. When he leans in, Derby presses back, cold and feeling slightly damp from the water’s spray. The time of day, and the fact that it was just them, makes him bold; he pulls Derby’s hands into his lap, tries to warm them with his own larger ones.
“Should we head back to the Academy?” Bif asks.
Derby gazes longingly towards the beach house, the lone shining light from the top of the beacon. “And walk that far?”
