Very Special Chocolates

Summary:

Morfonica exchange chocolates on Valentine's Day.

Work Text:

February 14th. It was Valentine's Day at Tsukinomori Girls’ Academy, and naturally, love was in the air. The members of Morfonica had just finished wrapping up their classes for the day. Normally, they’d meet in the garden after classes to head to band practice. This time, Nanami and Rui had arrived there earlier than the others, as per usual.

“Valentine’s Day huh~..? Rui-rui, do you have someone special to spend Valentine’s Day with..?” The salmon haired colored girl teased the taller girl in her signature playful tone, leaning towards Rui.

“I believe you know the answer to that as well as I do, Hiromachi-san.” Rui replied in usual tone, making Nanami chuckle.

“Speaking of Valentine’s, Rui-rui, I got you a special something! But you can’t have it until everyone else is here, okay~?” Nanami put a finger over her lips as if to say to keep it a secret.

“Same for you. I wonder what’s keeping the others…” Rui looked around after letting out a not-so-suprised-her-girlfriends-were-late sigh, scanning for them. “I too have gifts I hope to give to them.”

“Rui-san! Nanami-chan!” Tsukushi’s appeared before not too long, gasping for air as if she had just been running a good amount. Mashiro followed behind her at a slower pace. “S-sorry we’re late! We had to wait for Touko-chan…”

Rui and Nanami eye’s widened as Touko followed them close behind, carrying what seemed to be like a big box of chocolates. “Hey guys! You wouldn’t believe how heavy this box is! Had to get the girls to help me!” Touko set the box down on the bench before patting Tsukushi and Mashiro’s heads, a big grin on her face as a sign of thanks.

“I-It was no problem, r-really…” Tsukushi blushed at the headpat, trying and failing to hide her embarrassment towards her girlfriend’s gratitude.

“Anywho! Whatcha guy’s waitin’ for?! Dig in! I got this box for you guys, so you’d better-”

“H-hang on. I got something for you guys, too.” Mashiro chimed in in her quiet voice, reaching into her bag and pulling out neatly wrapped bags of bite sized chocolates. “Tsukushi-chan helped me make them…they’re custom made.” Mashiro smiled softly as Tsukushi nodded. “That’s right! I helped her!”

Nanami took the bag gratefully as Mashiro handed it to her. The bag was adorable, she noted. It was a small clear bag with a peach pink ribbon that kept the chocolates in the bag. On the ribbon, a small “N” was nearly embroidered on it. N for Nanami, she figured. Looking closer at the chocolates, she noticed they were shaped like cat’s faces. She couldn’t help but smile – those two were the cutest.

Rui’s bag was about the same, a small clear bag. But this time the ribbon was dark green, with a small golden R embroidered on it. Inside were dark chocolates, Rui’s favorite. She enjoyed the bitter but sweet taste of them. Rui smiled softly. Such care and effort put into making chocolate’s for her..?

Touko snatched the bag from Tsukushi’s fingers next. The ribbon was a orangey-pink color, with a golden T on it. Inside were a variety of different chocolates, but no dark, like Rui liked. It was mostly milk and white chocolates, which were to Touko’s liking. She carefully took one of the bag, popping it into her mouth.

“Mmph…! These are really good for newbies!”

“H-hey! I’m no newbie when it comes to baking, thank you very much!” Tsukushi put her hands on her hips in defense, before being confused as to why everyone was giggling.

“You’re so cute, Tsu-chan.” Nanami walked up to her, kissing her on the forehead gently. “Thanks for these chocolates. Same for you, Shiro-chan~” She smiled at the white haired girl, who was enjoying her own chocolates Tsukushi made for her. “Ah, you’ve got some chocolate on your face…aha.”

Before the other’s could move, Rui had already begun wiping the blushy girl’s face with her scarf, an amused smirk on her face. She could tell Mashiro was embarrassed, but she decided not to comment on it so she wouldn’t embarrass her further, like Touko or Nanami would. “The chocolates were very thoughtful of you. Thank you.”

“I-it was no big deal, Rui-san, really…”

“My turn!” Nanami chirped from besides Tsukushi, quickly pulling out small red boxes from her bag next. Each box had small little doodles of them on them, each for each person. Tsukushi huffed as she looked at hers. “Is this really how you see me?!” She held hers up.

“Oh my god ahaha! It’s a hamster! That’s SO you, Fusuke! Nanami got it perfectly!” Touko laughed hysterically. Rui and Mashiro watched in amusement as Tsukushi pouted at Touko. “I am NOT a hamster!”

Mashiro opened the box. It had different kinds of assorted chocolate, all different varieties of shapes and sizes. Mashiro didn’t like dark chocolate like Rui did or white chocolate like Touko did, so she carefully picked out the milk chocolate ones, gratefully popping one into her mouth. The sweet creamy taste made her shiver.

“Weeeell Rui-rui~? Where’s your gift??” Nanami closed her eyes and held out her hands as she spoke, making Rui raise an eyebrow. She reached into her bag, gently pulling out small heart-shaped boxes. Each had a golden bow wrapped around them to keep them shut. So fancy.

“Wow! That sure does look expensive, Rui.” Touko stared at the boxes, excited to get hers. Rui smiled as she placed a box into Nanami’s awaiting hands, who still had her eyes shut in anticipation.

The girls sat on the benches, chatting and munching on their chocolates as they made each other laugh. It was crazy how close they were. Everyone loved each person just as much as the other. Being together was when they truly felt at best. It was just like Nanami had said…the 5 of them could do anything together.

“Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone~!” Nanami declared after finishing her chocolates. Everyone looked at each other before smiling, beginning to chant.

“Happy Valentine’s Day!”
