A Weapon of Mass Love

Summary:

Another failed attempt from Juvia to make Gray love her, only this time it's worse. Instead of making gray love her she's made every girl in Fairy Tail but herself fall for Laxus! Quickly Juvia has to figure out how to fix this mess with a little help from the guild's biggest bookworm, Levy.

Notes:

Happy Valentine's day! I wanted to post a cute little romance fic for the holiday. This has been in my drafts forever and this year I finally got the motivation I needed to finish it! I am hoping to post a lot more this year and this fic will kick it off! I used to post a lot of Fairy Tail fics back on fanfiction.net so I was surprised to find I didn't have any on here! It was fun to once again play around with these characters after such a long break and I hope you enjoy!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

This time for sure, Juvia thought as she clutched the bottle she held close to her chest. Once again she was set on winning the love of her one and only. This time though she went to a more reputable potion maker, not by much but it was a start at least. They had told her that the aroma of the potion shall make the person fall for the first person of the opposite sex they see. Just what Juvia needed! With this new found weapon of mass love she opened the door to Fairy Tail. It didn’t take long for her to find her beloved, shirtless at the bar talking to Elfman. Carefully, as to not spill the potion and get other people involved again, she walked to the bar. What she had not taken into consideration is people falling into her.

Juvia was blissfully unaware of one of the normal Fairy Tail fights going on. This time Gajeel, Laxus, and Natsu were trying to see who was the strongest without having magic to help. This fight was getting pretty heated and to avoid a punch from Natsu, Laxus accidently doged straight into Juvia. With the sudden force from behind Juvia fell and the potion bottle shattered. Quickly Juvia covered her nose with her dress. Laxus turned and saw what he had done.

Feeling a little guilty he asked the water woman, “Do ya want help cleaning that up?” Juvia looked to Laxus a little worriedly, though Laxus had no idea why. Maybe the bottle or potion meant something to her? Before he could speculate any farther he felt someone grab his arm. Startled Laxus turned to see who it was, people knew he wasn’t one for random touching.

“Oh Laxus I don’t know how I never noticed what big muscles you had,” a typically scary red head said. His eyes went wide as he stared at none other than Erza Scarlet hanging off him. Before he got to question her, wasn’t she dating that blue haired Mystogan look alike, he felt someone else grab his other arm.

“No fair Erza, I saw him first,” this time the blonde zodiac wielder was on his case. Both of these girls were dating other men, why were they on him? Looking at Juvia he went to ask her if she knew what the hell was going on. However, a familiar face stepped between him and the blue haired mage.

“Back off, both of you! I have years on both of you!” Evergreen announced and then proceeded to tackle hug Laxus. Now he had a girl on each arm and one around his neck. With Evergreen joining the fray he knew for a fact that this had to do with whatever potion Juvia had with her when he bumped her. There was no way Evergreen liked him and she most certainly wouldn’t choose now to tell him if she actually did.

“Juvia what did you do?” Laxus said, sounding increasingly irritated. This was the last thing he needed to deal with. Afterall, his playboy days were long behind him.

“Juvia is sorry!” Juvia said with tears welling up in her eyes. The lightning dragon slayer had to sigh at that, he had been the one who ran into her. Before Juvia could continue with what Laxus figured was gonna be a long apology and somewhere in it he would find out what exactly was going on Mirajane walked over with a mop having noticed the mess. Though Laxus suspected that the mess had less to do with why she was there and more to do with seeing the drama that had befallen Laxus.

“Thought you may ne-” before Mirajane could finish she dropped the mop on the floor. “You girls better get off of my man,” Mirajane suddenly said pointing a finger at the three girls on Laxus. Despite what people thought Laxus and Mirajane had both agreed they felt nothing but famail love for one another. So hearing this was mind boggling.

“Juvia you better clean up that potion right now,” Laxus growled in warning as he felt the growing magic power from Mira. For anyone who hadn’t noticed what was going on, Laxus didn’t know how anyone didn’t at this point, they noticed it now.

“Big sis are you okay?” Juvia and Laxus could only watch in horror as Lisanna approached the group. Not wanting her partner to get infected like the others Juvia tried to warn her.

“Lisanna-san don’t breathe in!” she yelled at the white haired girl. The yell came too late as Lisanna had already breathed in the potion. Seeing Laxus she quickly joined in on the fight for him. Turning into her cat takeover she jumped onto her sister in a sneak attack.

“Juvia!” Laxus yelled, getting more pissed off by the second. Juvia quickly picked up the mop and cleaned up the potion. Not before one final contender joined in on the fight for Laxus though. Cana suddenly hit Evergreen and Erza with her card magic.

“Don’t count me out yet. Why don’t you two fight me for him!” Cana challenged the two. Erza finally let go of Laxus’s arm, much to his relief. Seeing the three begin to fight Mirajane and Lisanna also joined. Leaving just Lucy hanging on Laxus, which figured.

“Laxus! Are you trying to take my mate!” came a roar from a certain flame brain. Great, just what he needed. Not only was he going to have to fight these girls off of him, but now he had an annoying pest mad at him about his mate. The only thing he could hope for is that Jellal didn’t stop by. Though he wasn’t sure if Jellal being mad at him was worse or if Jellal suddenly decided Erza no longer loved him because the man deemed himself unworthy was the worse outcome.

“I don’t want your mate, I am already dating someone!” Laxus said dodging a fire attack. However he quickly found that was the wrong thing to say as all the girls stopped and stared at Laxus with a new found intensity. Not only that, but several of the guild members also stopped what they were doing to try and descritely, they all failed at that, listen in. Laxus gulped, this was not the way the guild was supposed to find out about that.

“Who! I will slay her where she stands!” Erza announced and the rest of the girls roared in agreement. For a second Laxus was glad they stopped fighting, till he remembered that now they all had a common enemy. Never before had he been so glad to be apart from his partner before.

“Juvia, can you please figure this out and fast,” Laxus said. Natsu went over to Lucy and was trying to get her to stop this nonsense, but to no avail. The potion seemed to have a wicked hold on the girls.

“Yes, Juvia will get started right away,” the rain woman told the lightning man. Despite saying that Juvia didn’t really know how she was going to do that. The bottle that had held the potion was smashed when Laxus bumped into her. Not only that, but she had no idea if the person who sold her the potion was even around anymore. Last time the person just skipped town. Mulling this over, and having to dodge some flying cards that were sent her way, she realized she needed help from one of the smartest people in the guild. Only problem, she couldn’t see Levy in the guildhall. What she did see was Gajeel, which was always the next best thing.

“Gajeel!” Juvia called out as she got closer to her long time friend. Gajeel looked up from his drink and saw that it was her. After Laxus had gotten caught up with the girls Gajeel had decided to sit down and have a drink. Seeing Juvia coming though he realized his calm drink was probably gonna change.

“So what exactly did you do?” Gajeel asked her. There was no need to beat around the bush, Juvia did this enough that he knew this was her doing.

“Juvia just wants Gray-sama to love her,” Juvia pouted. Why did it have to be so hard? Gajeel shook his head, figured. Before Gajeel could try and tell her that this was all a little ridiculous, Juvia decided to get right to what she needed. “Does Gajeel-kun know where Levy-san is?” she asked.

“Of course I know where the shrimp is!” Gajeel said, sounding offended for some reason. Levy and Gajeel’s relationship never ceased to confuse her. Despite knowing Gajeel for a long time Juvia could not recall a time where Gajeel treated his girlfriends in the same manner he treated Levy. “She’s outback with Lily,” Gajeel told her.

“Thank you Gajeel-kun,” Juvia said with a smile and then quickly got back there. The sooner she got Levy the quicker this all would be resolved. Or at least she hoped Levy would know what to do.

Going outside it wasn’t hard to find Levy and Lily. The two were in the middle of the back and Levy was actually holding Pantherlily’s sword. That was certainly strange, Juvia was pretty sure she had never seen Levy with a sword before. Slowly Juvia approached so she didn’t scare the two. While the sword itself wouldn’t hurt the mages water body Levy would no doubt still feel terrible. Pantherlily noticed her first and had Levy put the sword down.

“Oh hey Juv, what’s up?” Levy asked, giving Lily back his sword. Recently she and Gajeel had been taking more jobs together so she wanted to learn more fighting techniques. Never again did she want to watch helplessly while Gajeel or Lily got hurt.

“Ummm… There is a situation in the guildhall,” Juvia said, not really wanting to admit to what she had done. Though she didn’t really need to cause Levy had already guessed Juvia had tried again with a love potion or spell. Really the girl just didn’t know what to quit.

“What did you try this time?” Levy asked, skipping the questions. If it was so bad that Juvia interrupted her training with Lily then it had to be pretty bad. The sooner she knew what she was dealing with the better.

“Juvia used a potion to try to make Gray-sama love her again,” Juvia sighed, knowing she couldn’t hide it. Plus everyone in the guildhall already knew what was going on and Levy was supposed to help her. Levy sighed and shook her head at the situation. “Juvia didn’t mean to make a bunch of girls fall for Laxus-kun!” Juvia insisted. Upon hearing the lightning dragon slayer’s name Levy knew this was gonna get bad. If Freed saw so many women on Laxus he would be heartbroken again for sure. The two were good friends and Freed often told Levy of how heartbroken he got every time he saw Laxus with a new chick. Sadly it seemed that was a normal thing. Luckily she knew Freed was out at the moment with Bickslow, something about them catching up. The details were hazy since she had been drinking when the two talked last.

“Well then we need to hurry stat!” Levy said with a new sense of urgency, “Do you have the bottle or the list of ingredients?” When Juvia just looked down at her feet Levy knew this was going to be a lot harder than she thought.

“Laxus-kun bumped into Juvia which is what made the potion fall. Juvia doesn’t know what it was made of,” Juvia admitted sadly. Deep down she knew she should be more careful with these things, but she honestly hadn’t seen Laxus. Plus he bumped into her!

“And I am going to guess that you didn’t get it from someone who is reputable,” Levy said. The shake of Juvia’s head was all Levy needed to know to figure out what the two had to do now. “Well, I believe there is a book on love potions in the guild’s library. All we need to do is find it and look up the symptoms,” Levy said. Juvia nodded, at least she knew that much. Pantherlily quickly changed into his smaller form.

“I shall assist you two as much as possible,” Lily promised the girls. Both girls smiled and nodded, then went to go back into the guild. However what awaited them was not what any of the three had been expecting.

When the three entered the guild they saw that the small army of Laxus’s new found admirers was going around and scaring every girl that they came across. It seemed since Laxus’s confession they now viewed everyone as a target. Laxus seemed to be relieved that they were off his case at least for now. Although he was more relieved that if Freed did come now at least he wouldn’t be surrounded by women. That was really the last thing he needed. Once the girls were halfway to the library the army of women finally noticed them and rushed to the two.

“Are either of you dating Laxus!” Erza asked, she seemed to be leading the charge, and then leveled her sword at the two. Levy and Juvia quickly put their hands up, not wanting to face Erza’s wrath.

“Juvia would never betray Gray-sama like that!” Juvia defends veitmetly. Levy rolled her eyes at both Juvia and the girls who were glaring at the two women. The potion seemed to remove some brain cells if they truly believed that one of them was dating Laxus. Though the girls seemed to agree with Juvia’s statement, maybe not that many brain cells were lost, and moved on to Levy.

“And you?” Erza pushed the shorter girl.

“I’m dating Gajeel!” Levy reminded the mob in front of her. The girls exchange looks between one another as if trying to decide if that was enough to let Levy go as well.

“So? Laxus is leagues better than that asshole. Why wouldn’t you try to make a move?” Evergreen countered. The other girls seemed to be nodding in agreement. Levy crossed her arms and huffed at them. The nerve of those girls! Why was Gray good enough to get Juvia a pass, but Gajeel wasn't? Or was it that they didn’t believe her devotion to Gajeel was true! Before Levy could get truly upset and in the girl’s faces the man in question came up behind the two girls.

“These ladies bothering you two?” Gajeel asked the blue haired duo and his cat. Levy was relieved that Gajeel came and calmed down some by seeing him. It didn’t matter what the mob of potion crazed women believed after all. In the end she loved him and that was all that mattered.

“Yes!” Juvia huffed, snapping Levy out of her love-stricken haze. “Levy-san thinks she can help Juvia fix this entire mess, but they won’t let us pass. They also dared say Levy-san’s love for Gajeel-kun wasn’t enough,” Juvia glared at the mob of women. A lot of the women in the mob were Juvia’s friends now, but Gajeel was her oldest and best friend so the fact they would think so low of him angered her. Gajeel rolled his eyes at his best friend’s protective antics though he was more than used to this.

“Then I’ll distract them while you guys go get the book,” Gajeel grinned at the girls and cat. Before they could question what he was gonna do he stepped out in front of the girls and grinned at the mob. “You know Laxus is a very strong guy, maybe the reason he hasn’t gone for any of you is because he wants to know who the strongest is,” Gajeel proposed.

“Gajeel you can’t think that is-” before Levy could finish her protest to Gajeel’s distraction the girl’s had once again turned on one another. There was an all out brawl happening between the girl’s and Levy could only wince as she watched Lucy pull Erza’s hair as Erza tried to slash at Mirajane.

“Never underestimate the distraction of a good fight!” Gajeel laughed at the scene in front of him. In Fairy Tail Levy supposed that was all too true.

“We better get a move on and figure this out quickly before they cause too much damage,” Lily finally spoke up, always the voice of reason. Nodding the two girls booked it for the library, narrowly dodging the fists and kicks- and at times swords- of the other girls.

Once inside the library the maze of books looked rather intimidating to the trio. Lily and Juvia both look to Levy, who looks rather at home in the library. After all she was there basically all her time minus missions and dates with Gajeel. “So what book are we looking for exactly?” Lily asked Levy, floating next to the bluenette.

Levy thought for a moment about the best book for the trio to look for before replying, “There should be a book titled Potions Or Emotions. It talks all about potions that manipulate emotions as well as how to fix them.” Lily nodded and went off to go try and see if the book was higher than the other girls could reach.

“Juvia is really sorry to cause so many issues again,” Juvia sighed next to her. Part of Levy did feel bad for the girl, she really didn’t mean to keep causing so much trouble, but Juvia did mean to bewitch Gray.

“You really should stop with all these potions Juvia and just have an honest talk with him. I know that is hard to do with him, but I believe in you. After all, you are stubborn enough to keep finding other ways to try to get him to confess,” Levy told the other girl. Sighing, Juvia nodded and gave the other a small smile. Deep down she knew Levy was right, but any time she tried to have a real conversation about feelings with Gray he always got too nervous to speak. It was hard to tell if that was because he was worried about hurting the other or if it was because he too shared the same feelings. “Now let’s go find that book and help Laxus!” Levy said, silently adding in her head that they needed to do so before Freed returned as well. Having a time crunch was not something Levy liked, but Freed being saddened again was not something she wanted her friend to have to deal with.

“Yeah!” Juvia said, invigorated by the other’s peppiness. The two went to opposite sides of the library to search for the book. Sadly the Fairy Tail library was not very organized making finding things within the library to be extremely difficult. One day Lucy and Levy would get around to organizing it, but that day had not come yet.

After nearly an hour Pantherlily finally let out a triumph, “Found it!” Converging in the center of the library the trio settled at a table to look through the book. Dropping the book on the table, Panter sat on the table by the book. The book itself was rather large, showing just how many potions there were to manipulate emotions, basically the size of Pantherlily himself in his smaller form. Opening the book to its index Juvia saw that there was an entire section on love potions alone.

“Juvia had no idea Fairy Tail owned such a book in its library,” Juvia commented as she looked at the long list. Finding which one she had used seemed to be a hard task, but she was certain Levy could do so.

“Yeah, we don’t talk much about all the book types we have in this place,” Levy said, flipping to the love potion section. She took out her high speed reading glasses and put them on. Before starting her research to find exactly what Juvia had used on Laxus she turned to the other girl and stated, “Do not use any of the potions in this book, okay?” It would not be out of character for Juvia to suddenly decide that buying a love potion wasn’t working, so she should brew her own.

“Juvia understands and she won’t. Juvia thinks Levy-san is right about needing a long talk with Gray-sama,” Juvia promised the other. Feeling her answer was acceptable, Levy turned to the book to start her high-speed research. After all, they had burned enough time and who knew what disasters the girls had wrecked on their poor guild hall. As she flipped through Juvia did look over her shoulder and saw many promising potions go whizzing past. No Juvia, she scolded herself, talking to Gray-sama is the only way forward now. Even if the potions seemed extremely promising.

“Found it!” Levy said finally and stopped the book from moving. While they didn’t have the exact name of the potion, the potion Levy had settled on was the only one that seemed to activate from only inhaling the vapors. Not only that, but it was also triggered by simply looking at someone of the opposite sex. Rather homophobic of it, but Levy figured that she shouldn’t be looking too far into the ethics of love potions. “It seems that the way to break it is,” Levy said reading the stipulations and then chuckled a little.

“What is it?” Juvia asked, looking over Levy’s shoulder once again. It didn’t take long to figure out why Levy suddenly thought this situation was rather funny. The potion said that in order to break out of it the victim would just have to be told that they are loved by the muse. Which meant the minute that Juvia would have told Gray she loved him, which she did quite often, the potion would have been deactivated. “Seriously?! That would have been important to know!” Juvia grumbled extremely upset at this. This had, once again, been an extremely bad investment from her.

“Seems that maybe you should stop using these?” Levy said, looking at her friend. Juvia pouted at Levy, but nodded in agreement. “Well, while this is bad news for you, it is great news for Laxus. All he has to do is lie to them and they will break out of their crazed state!” Levy exclaimed. Though they would have to do it extremely quickly so Freed didn’t see one of these confessions and get his heart broken again. Looking at the clock Levy sighed. It was really a race against that clock and the clock was already winning. “We better hurry,” Levy said, but didn’t say exactly why she was hurrying. No need for others to know one of her best friend’s woes after all.

“Yes we should,” Juvia agreed and Lily nodded in agreement as well. The trio left the library and went back to the main guild hall. Once there Juvia had to duck as a plate got thrown their direction. Sadly Lily did not notice in time and got hit with the plate and fell out of the air.

“Lily, are you okay?!” Levy asked, quickly going to help her friend. Before Lily could assure Levy he was more than fine, more stunned than anything, Gajeel overheard.

“Which one of you hit my cat!” Gajeel roared and started to tear through his competition. Levy just sighed as she watched her boyfriend get more rowdy than usual. Looking into the brawl though she found that she didn’t see Laxus in the fray, mostly just the dragon slayers, Gray, and all the girls who were still under the potions spell.

“Where is Laxus-san?” Juvia asked, she too had realized the same thing. Lily flew above the fight, this time looking out for any projectiles, and found Laxus on the upper floor.

“He is on the upper floor watching this all,” Lily told them as she flew back to the girls.

“Thanks Lily,” Levy told him. Carefully the two girls moved around the fight to get to the stairs to the upstairs area. Once they got there, having to dodge several fists in the process, they quickly got to Laxus. “Laxus!” Levy called as she ran over, Juvia hot on her heels. Laxus turned and was relieved to see the people approaching him were just Levy and Juvia.

“What did you find? Figure out how to stop this mess yet?” Laxus question, motioning to the brawl down below.

“Juvia is pretty sure that this would have happened even if she hadn’t dropped that potion,” Juvia commented. After all it was Fairy Tail, fighting was natural. Laxus shot her a look and Juvia shut up. Sure the fight would have happened, but probably not over Laxus himself.

“Anyway,” Levy said with a sigh, “yes we did find a way to break the potion. However I am not sure you are going to like it very much.”

“What could be worse than this?” Laxus asked, confused. He could think of little that would be worse than having all the girls fighting over him. How was anyone supposed to get anything done with them like this anyway?

“You have to tell every girl that got affected that you love her. Once they hear that the facade will be broken,” Levy explains to him. For a second or two Laxus isn’t sure he heard her right. However when the girls just continue to stare at him he realizes they are being serious.

“What? No way! I don’t know if you guys recall, but I said I was dating someone. That wasn’t a lie. If they saw that…” Laxus trails off. Part of Levy felt bad for Laxus, having to do this while dating someone couldn’t be easy, but a bigger part of her felt bad for Freed. Even though none of these confessions would be true Laxus was still with another. She hoped Freed didn’t know, but she also knew that was nearly impossible since the thunder legion shared everything with one another. Still the last thing Freed needed was to hear Laxus say it to a greater number of people.

“Then I guess we’ll just have to make it quick, yeah?” Levy said. Laxus looked like he was about to fight again, but Levy cut him off, “Listen this is more than just you. Don’t you think they want to go back to loving the ones they really love? Also what would the person you are dating think if they saw all these girls all over you? And what about Evergreen? Don’t you want your friend back? I know this is hard, but it is the only choice we really have.” For a couple seconds Laxus was silent as he contemplated what Levy said. He took so long to reply Levy was worried he would still disagree and she would have to find even more reasons for him to cooperate. However she never had to worry about that because Laxus simply sighed and nodded that he would do it. Relief washed over Levy as she looked at the clock. They still had a little bit of time before Freed should return, but they had to be quick. “Well, let’s hurry before your partner finds out, yeah? Let’s head downstairs, then Juvia can you lead the girls over one by one for this fake confession?” she asked her friend. Juvia nodded and quickly headed downstairs to grab the first girl. The other two headed down much slower, Levy because she didn’t want to accidentally trip and Laxus because he didn’t want to actually do it.

Once downstairs Juvia already had the first person for Laxus to confess to, Lisanna. Slowly Laxus fumbled through confessions, which mostly ended with the women laughing at him. Honestly it was pretty awful for his self esteem. Still it was good that none of them secretly hardboarded some feelings for him because he could not handle having to turn them down after confessing. Levy had to stop Erza from hitting him for making fun of her, which was both funny and sad at the same time. Evergreen was second to last and she just shook her head at him. Levy was guessing that she was right about the thunder legion knowing Laxus was in a relationship since Evergreen guessed right away there was some sort of spell that he was breaking right away.

Finally the last person he had to confess to was Mirajane. By then he felt like a kicked puppy with how many rejections he got and how many of the girls had just laughed. At least he knew Mira didn’t have feelings for him and wasn’t going to emasculate him even more than the others had. Juvia grabbed Mirajane and brought her over to Laxus, who took a deep breath. He was so ready for all this to be over.

“Mirajane,” Laxus said looking at one of his oldest friends, “I love you.” This one didn’t feel quite as bad as the others, because in a way Laxus did love her. Plus it wouldn’t be the first time said that he loved her. Though he also supposed that probably made her the most believable confession, several people were looking at them. He then realized that it wasn’t the confession that was making people look at him, but the fact that another person had entered the guildhall as he had confessed. Standing in the doorway of the guildhall was none other than Freed. The place was so quiet he could have sworn that you could hear a pin drop, or maybe that was just his imagination. All he could notice is Freed looking between the two before he turned and left the guildhall. If he had been paying attention, he wasn't, he would have heard Levy swear next to him. Bickslow, who Laxus just now noticed walked in with Freed, started to chuckle at the scene and the stunned Laxus.

“Better go get your man Laxus,” Bickslow cackled. Bickslow’s voice and reason finally broke Laxus’s momentary paralysis as he rushed out of the guildhall after Freed. This time the silence that followed was not in anyone’s imagination.

“You big doofus!” Evergreen scolded, slapping her teammate on the arm. “They were not ready to let everyone know yet!” Bickslow blinked before remembering that the rest of the guild didn’t know Laxus and Freed were dating.

“Whoops, well cat’s out of the bag now!” Bickslow cackled while Evergreen just face palmed at her friend. That was all it took for the guildhall once again to burst out into chatter about possible theories of how Freed finally managed to get Laxus and for how long the two had been hiding this from them. Levy was especially interested in the last part.

“Juvia,” Gray said as he walked over to his blue haired friend. Juvia turned and blushed as she saw Gray, who was once again only in his boxers. Before she could make a flirty comment about his lack of clothes the look on Gray’s face shut her up. He seemed rather serious, which was never a good sign.

“Yes Gray-sama?” Juvia said, trying to be equally serious as her love. Gray took a deep breath and slipped his hands through his own hair in that way she loved. Then again everything he did she loved.

“You really have got to stop it with the love potions,” Gray told her point blank. Juvia looked down ashamed of herself. Really she should have figured that this conversation would be happening. “You don’t even need one,” Gray mumbled and Juvia suddenly looked up. Surely she heard him wrong right? However the faint blush on her beloved’s cheeks told a different story.

“What does Gray-sama mean by that?” Juvia needed to know that what she was thinking was true. After all, it wouldn't be the first time she jumped to conclusions.

“I, Uh,” Gray was a blushing stuttering mess now. He honestly wasn’t sure what he thought would happen after he said that. When he looked at Juvia again though, seeing her hopeful face, he made up his mind. Slowly, as if scared she would be startled away, he put his hand on her cheek. Then he brought them together for a sweet, gentle kiss that said more than his tongue tied self ever could have. When they broke apart Gray could swear he could see hearts in Juvia’s eyes.

“Juveeeeeeeeen!” Juvia cried and then suddenly turned into a puddle at Gray’s feet. Panicked Gray tried to get her to reform, but it seemed the other girl was too happy and could not hold a solid state.

Levy chuckled at her friends as she leaned on her own boyfriend and told him, “Looks like Fairy Tail will have two new couples to gossip over now.” Gajeel chuckled as he wrapped his arms around his shrimp of a girlfriend.

“As long as Laxus managed to patch things up with the green haired bookworm,” Gajeel commented. Levy rolled her eyes and playfully swatted at Gajeel’s arm for not remembering their guildmate, and one of her best friend’s, name.

“I am sure they will be fine,” Levy said with a lot more confidence than she felt towards the subject.

While the guild started their new round of gossip on the new couples that was just brought to the masses attention, Laxus had finally managed to catch up with Freed. Once he caught up to him, cursing how quick the smaller framed man moved, he grabbed at his arm. “Freed,” he said, hoping he would stop and look at him. When they first got together Freed had confessed how much it hurt him to see Laxus with all those other people. How much it hurt him when Laxus was the playboy of Fairy Tail. Those days were long behind him, but he feared that Freed would be hurt all over again by those memories by what he walked in on. Or worse, got the wrong idea from what he saw. It was the last thought that truly scared him.

Freed turned to look at Laxus. Seeing his face not filled with hate or saddness relaxed him a little. “So what spell did you need to break?” Freed asked. Laxus was a little surprised that Freed had always put two and two together, but then again the man was brilliant. “Surely it is not that surprising that I figured that much out. I mean why else would you say that?” he questioned. Laxus gave a relieved smile to his partner, he was so glad that his partner was so smart.

“Juvia tried another one of her failed love potions. Turns everyone who smells into mindless love zombies for the first person who they see that’s the opposite sex. I may have accidentally bumped into her and that made me the target for the women,” Laxus chuckled embarrassed. This all was kinda equally his part since he was the one that ran into the poor water woman hard enough that she dropped the very important potion on the ground. All Freed could do was laugh at his bashful, and sometimes clumsy, boyfriend. He also did not doubt the women of fairy tail were not kind with how they turned him down once they came back to themselves.

“I figured as much, but I also needed to leave. I didn’t want to do anything stupid over… all that…” It was Freed’s turn to be embarrassed. While he didn’t doubt for a second that Laxus was simply helping break a spell of some sort that didn’t stop his jealousy from rearing its ugly head. He had always been the jealous one of the two anyway. Then again every now and then Laxus too would show his jealous side, so maybe he shouldn’t feel so bad.

“Well, I don’t think that matters so much anymore,” Laxus admitted. Freed looked at his partner in extreme confusion. “Uhh, well when you walked out Bickslow might have made it kinda obvious that we are dating. And if that didn’t do it me running after you certainly made the image pretty clear,” Laxus explained. All Freed could do was laugh that this was how the guild found out. Then again they should have known when they told Bickslow the truth their days of being secret were numbered.

“Guess we couldn’t hide from their teasing forever,” Freed chuckled at the thought. The only reason the two had not told the guild was Laxus was not looking forward to all the teasing he would have to endure at the hands of their guildmates. Especially at the hands of the other dragon slayers who were always relentless when one of their own found their true mate. When they had gotten serious Laxus made sure Freed knew that he was the one Laxus wanted to be his true mate, but he wasn’t ready for the others to know. As strong as Laxus was he got embarrassed rather easily. In Freed’s opinion it was quite cute.

“Well, if everyone already knows,” Freed said, grabbing Laxus by the collar of his shirt. Laxus grinned, getting exactly where his lover was going with this. Without a care in the world Laxus kissed Freed in the streets of Fiore, finally free to do so. Maybe Juvia’s love potions weren’t so bad afterall.
