It had been a long day and Double Black were absolutely exhausted. Luckily, Corruption didn’t have to be used, but the two were still absolutely wiped out. Some days just ended up like that.
The two were walking through Yokohama on their way towards headquarters when Dazai stops and points up at a sign.
“Hey Chuuya,” Dazai says, the redhead continuing to walk past him.
“What?” Chuuya groans as he turns to face his partner. He looks up to where the brunette is pointing. “You really want to play video games when we’re both exhausted?” He asks after seeing the sign for their favorite arcade.
Dazai shrugs, “It’s better than dealing with Mori.”
Chuuya couldn’t deny that Dazai did have a point. “Alright, but only for a couple of minutes. I’m still fucking tired.” He relents.
“Only if you’ll let me make bet with you!” Dazai smiles.
“Absolutely not!” Chuuya yells. “And don’t negotiate right after I’ve negotiated with you, mackerel!”
“Oh, is the slug afraid he’ll lose?” Dazai taunts.
Chuuya grits his teeth. Dazai always knew how to bait him into these things.
“The hell I am!” Chuuya retorts. “You’re on, Dazai! You’re not winning anything!” He opens the door to the arcade with enough force to rip it from its hinges.
Dazai giggles as he follows his partner through the door.
Without even so much as a glance towards the other, the two walk to their favorite fighting game. It’s been a staple for them every time they walk in. All their bets and fights have been decided this way after Mori told them they weren’t allowed to physically fight each other.
“So what’s this bet you’ve got, shitty Dazai?” Chuuya asks as he takes his seat in front of the gaming console.
Dazai giggles again. He’s always got something up those bandaged sleeves. “Whoever loses must let the winner do anything they want to them.” He declares, a mischievous smile curling onto his face.
Chuuya eyes his partner. “God, you are disgusting.” He says. “But if it means I can knock you out cold, I’ll take it.”
“You’re so violent, chibi,” Dazai complains. “But, that does technically fall under the terms of the bet, so I’ll allow it.”
“I don’t even want to know what your sick head is planning. But it won’t even matter because I’ll be the one winning this bet.” Chuuya smirks as if he’s already won. “You ready, Dazai?” He takes a hold of the joystick and puts a hand over the attack button.
“Whenever you are, Chuuya~.”
The game immediately starts and right away, the two are charging to take victory for themselves.
Every time they play this game, the two default to their most typical strategies. Dazai stays on the defensive, charging up his magic attacks, while Chuuya goes on the offensive and tries to take a win by beating it out of his opponent. The games usually don’t last too long so they typically decide to do a 2 out of 3 or 3 out of 5 before deciding a true winner.
Both of their strategies can work, but usually, Dazai ends up taking the ultimate win. Something about that demon-like quality is just cunning enough with things like games and mafia dealings.
Today is no different.
“Damn it!!” Chuuya yells as he hits the game machine.
As such, the redhead usually loses and is never happy about it.
Dazai giggles maniacally. “Looks like I am the winner and I can do whatever I please with you!”
Chuuya feels sick to his stomach after hearing those words. “Dirty mackerel.” He mutters. “Fine! Just do whatever! I don’t even care!”
“That was the plan, dear Chuuya.” Dazai smiles as he takes his partner’s hand and drags him out of the arcade.
The two walk out into moonlit city streets.
Chuuya mentally prepares for anything that shitty Dazai has planned, but instead, he finds himself being walked towards a park. That, surprisingly, isn’t that well attended.
“What are you going to do?” Chuuya asks his partner. He had expected something like Dazai stealing his hat or wallet, or something like cutting his hair, but this was really strange.
Dazai looks over and just smiles as he continues to lead the two of them a guardrail overlooking over the sea.
Chuuya groans again, trying to surmise what Dazai has in store for him. “You’re not pushing me into the water so help me, I’ll—“
He finds his complaint cut off by a pair of lips on his.
Shock swells up inside of Chuuya like a bomb exploding. It’s hard to process what is actually happening until it stops happening.
Did Dazai just..?
Dazai backs up from Chuuya, not saying a word and instead quickly looks out towards the sea,
“Dazai..?” Chuuya’s heart is pounding wildly. He doesn’t want to believe what just happened but it’s the only thing that makes sense. “What just...”
“Sorry.” Dazai squeaks, sounding so small. “I shouldn’t of—“
“No! Don’t be. I—“ Chuuya’s face was as red as his hair.
Dazai turns to his partner, looking like he wants to say something as Chuuya turns his eyes to the ground.
“I, I uh, have to...” Chuuya mutters before he activates his ability, a red glow forming around him. “I have to go!” he yells before launching himself up into the sky with the help of gravity and running off from the situation.
Dazai watches as his partner flees, he knew he shouldn’t have done that. It just was the only thing he could think of, well, that’s what he tells himself. Yet, deep down he just wanted to know what it would be like to kiss someone like that. Especially someone who he finds so...he isn’t sure of the word to describe it, but he knows it makes him feel so icky inside.
The demon prodigy of the mafia brings a finger to his tingling lips, still feeling Chuuya’s warmth on them.
He still isn’t sure what that feeling is, but he knows he wants to feel it again.
