Summary
Riddle wouldn’t meet his soulmate until his first year at NRC.
“It’s red, but it’s not hot!” an obnoxious voice said, tugging at the strands like a child testing a toy.
Riddle’s reaction was immediate, he drew his magic pen, set the boy’s sleeve ablaze, and promptly hurled him across the room.
Gasps filled the hall as Riddle trembled with fury. How dare he? Who the hell did he think he was?
It took two teachers to hold him back before he could lunge again.
And then—finally—he looked.
The idiot who’d just ruined his first impression was grinning up at him from the floor, still half-smoking from the fire spell. And the moment their eyes met—
Riddle’s world exploded into color.
The moment the red-haired boy threw him across the room, Floyd knew.
Across the room, his soulmate just froze. The kid’s expression shifted from fury to wide-eyed horror, like he’d just witnessed the end of days. Floyd couldn’t help himself; he burst out laughing.
He didn’t even know the boy’s name yet, but he didn’t need to. The universe had a funny sense of humor, and this time it had outdone itself.
It had given Floyd the perfect soulmate.

The silence hung over the room like a suffocating blanket.
Riddle’s pulse pounded in his ears, loud and ragged. The air between them buzzed with everything that hadn’t been said before now.
“Or nothing?” she echoed, her voice low, dangerously soft. “I’ll show you nothing,” She loomed over him. “If you don’t end things with that boy, I’ll disown you.”
“Then do it.”
His mother—no, Edith Rosehearts—stood there, stunned to silence, like she hadn’t expected him to fight back.

Denki clenched his jaw and nodded, forcing the electricity out once more.
They worked their way up, 500, 600, 700—each jolt ripping through him as the stinging turned to burning.
At 800 volts, his dad’s body finally reacted.
Denki let out a broken sob of relief as his dad’s chest finally began to rise and fall, shallow but steady—just like it was supposed to..

Or I made Kaminari Denki a healer and gave him a bunch of trauma for fun! :)

Floyd’s grin came back, gentler this time. “I love you too. And you make me happy too, y’know? So don’t ever doubt that.”

Floyd didn’t speak, he just held him and listened.
“So every time you say it, I—I don’t know what to do with it. It feels like… like if I say it back, I have to be something. Something perfect, something good enough to deserve it.”
“And I know you don’t think like that. I know it’s not conditional for you, but I still haven’t unlearned that yet.”
Floyd was still quiet, but his arms tightened around him.
“I don’t say it,” Riddle whispered, “because I don’t want to say it wrong. Or say it when I’m scared, or not sure, or trying to be someone I’m not. I want to say it when I can’t not say it. When it’s real, and it feels like mine.”

Riddle stared at Floyd, something in his gaze the merman couldn’t quite unearth.
“Yeah.” He whispered.
It takes Floyd four weddings and a proposal before finally realizing he’s had enough of this bullshit.

The only memorable thing to Floyd was the vows.
“I know, the way we met wasn’t what you dreamed it would be. I can’t promise you the fairytale life you deserve, but I see you in every scene of my future and I can only hope you would too. My life has become a movie that stars you as the main character, in every scene without you, there is always an implication about you.”
This time, Floyd catches the bouquet. The first thing he does after landing is look over at Riddle, who was already smiling and clapping for him. Floyd could feel the spike of his heart, and the flush of his face, it was warm, it was nice. It was just a jump, a bouquet, a look, a clap, a smile, but it made Floyd feel so happy. He likes catching the bouquet, it reminded him of the color red.

Floyd took a deep breath in. “And if, when the time comes, and you still want it, I’d wanna celebrate my wedding with you, Goldfishie.”
Floyd paused, taking another deep breath. “I want to be able to sit with you at tables, with the name Rosehearts labelled in front of it. I want to toss the bouquet with you. I wanna go shopping with you. I want all of it.”
Finally, Floyd spoke his last words. “I like you, Goldfishie.”
