The troupe ended practice late again, which wasn’t surprising, considering their next play was just around the corner. Touko wraps the scarf around her neck and exhales. Chilly weather on this late night really made her wish she could hold a certain someone’s warm hands and press her cheek against them.
She’d never ask Yuu to come out in this freezing weather just to walk her home though. It was merely an afterthought, but wouldn’t it be sweet of the younger girl to do that for her?
Touko brushed her bangs aside when small drops of snowflakes piled up on them. She put up her umbrella and began to make her way home to the cozy rented apartment for two. Touko fiddled with the keys combined with a dolphin keychain that were stuffed in her bag and unlocked the door to her apartment.
“I’m home.”
No answer.
Well, that was fair, since she did text Yuu earlier to not wait up on her. Her beloved was swamped with quite the number of assignments ever since she entered college so it was best to let her rest when she can. Touko observed the time on her wristwatch while searching for the light switch on the wall in the dark. As soon as the dark living room turned so bright that it almost blinded her, a loud ‘pop’ sound resonated throughout the room.
“Wha—?!”
“Happy birthday!”
In front of Touko stood a girl with a cheeky smile plastered on her face with a used party popper in her hands.
“Yuu… I thought you were asleep already.” Touko smiles fondly at the girl reaching out to grab a small piece of confetting on the crown of her head.
“Silly. How could I sleep so early on the day the girl I love was born?” She pressed a chaste kiss on Touko’s lips but the older girl felt that it ended way too quickly for her own liking. She pulled Yuu back in her arms where she belonged, tilting her head and kissed the girl she loved so dearly slowly. Yuu obliged without any hesitation as her lips stretched out into a smile.
“Mmf.”
Touko wanted more, more, more.
Her tongue darts in Yuu’s mouth for only a moment before she is pushed away so suddenly, a hand blocking her mouth from probing further. A brightly red Yuu wipes the remnants of Touko’s ‘fluids’ on the corner of her lips.
“Geez, we’ll do that.. later.” She reached out to hold Touko’s free hand and lead her to the dining table. “At least, eat this cake I made for you. The time I spent on this was pretty long, yknow?”
Touko clicks her tongue. “Hmph, tease. Wait, did you just say—“
A hand immediately covered her mouth to contain her surprise. Yuu baked a cake for her birthday? Yuu did that for her?
“I also tried my hand at some simple dishes which I got from my sister. Hopefully, you aren’t too full yet…?” Yuu’s voice trailed off when she felt a pair of arms wrapped around her waist from behind. Touko planted her face into Yuu’s shoulder blade and mumbled something intelligible.
“.”
“What was that?” Yuu asked as she turned her head slightly to peck the older girl’s temple.
“Yuu. Thank you. Really.”
“Mm. Of course, I love you after all.” Yuu pats her beloved on the head with a gaze overflowing with affection. She truly adored these tender moments when Touko becomes docile and cute, so open and free with her love for Yuu that knew no bounds.
“So, for my present, can we have birthday se—“
“After we eat the cake.”
