(Not) Weak For Morgan

Summary:

Alex was the most powerful and terror inducing villain to ever walk this world. (And they once were the greatest Hero, but they didn’t particularly like talking about that phase…) They had many enemies and countless Heroes that tried time and time again to defeat them. And they all failed.

The point was: They could and would obliterate anyone who would dare even begin to think that they were weak for Morgan. They weren’t. They didn’t do weak. Didn’t even know the meaning of the word! Well, no. That was wrong. They fought plenty of Heroes, who were pathetically weak.

But Alex wasn’t. Never. Not even for Mor- Oh fuck, they were smiling. In an instant, Alex lost all threads to their inner monologue.

Notes:

Hey guys,

so, this is the first fic I have ever posted on this site and it is the first fic in english I have ever posted. It is not my first language, so if you notice any glaring mistakes, please let me know. I actually didn't think I would ever post anything I have written on here, but I thought of little snippets while I was at work today and since I am currently on a bit of a binge for this pair, I wanted to try my hand. So, pleasy let my know what you think. Enjoy!

Work Text:

Alex leveled a vicious glare in the distance, wishing horrible pain upon one of his greatest annoyance. Dave Dodgers. Leader USA. That little Hero better be thanking all the gods he knew that he was married to Morgan’s sister, for that was the absolute only reason why he was still alive and Alex hadn’t strewn his guts all over the city. How dare he-

“Are you still brooding?” Morgan’s voice interrupted their thoughts and indignation flooded their body.
“What? I don’t brood!”, they sputtered, leveling a look at their best friend that would send masses of civilians fleeing for their lives. Morgan simply laughed. They weren’t intimidated at all. “Dave has been gone for an hour at least and you’re still glaring in his direction. Come on, man. We still gotta watch the second movie and it’s getting reaaaaally hard to keep my hands off the popcorn.” There was a teasing lilt to their voice that sent a shiver down Alex’ back. They didn’t comment on it, of course. It was just a breeze, after all.
Slightly grumbling, Alex rose from their perch on the steps to follow Morgan back inside their lair. They cast a quick look back to a little pile of clay shards, the reason for their annoyance. Frisbee Boy had practically come out of nowhere to attack them, trying to catch them off guard and apprehend them. However, it was foolish to think, that Alex couldn’t hear him coming.

All that wouldn’t be an issue, if Frisbee Boy simply had better aim. As it was, he threw his shield, missing them by far and instead shattering a little clay figurine. And THAT, that set them off. That figurine had been a gift from Morgan. Within seconds, the Hero was running with his tail between his legs, two broken arms and an unsalvageable shield. Gods, it would have felt good to kill him… Couldn’t Morgan’s sister just get divorced?
To be honest, that figurine had been more of a fun gift that Morgan had acquired at one of his heists. An antique store was trying to sell a cheaply made clay figurine as an ancient depiction of the roman god of war, Ares. It was, however, clearly modeled after Alex himself and barely older that a handful of years. But it was a gift from Morgan an his unwritten rules stated, that whoever broke one of Morgan’s gifts had to die.

“Alex, last warning before the popcorn is all mine!” Morgan’s voice had them looking up and finally moving inside. The popcorn really wasn’t important. But Morgan interrupted the planning of their next heist in order to spend time with Alex for a movie night and they would be damned if they wasted even more precious time with their best friend.
Movie night proceeded without further interruptions. Luckily, otherwise someone would have died. The third movie had been a classic both of them had already seen many times, but still enjoyed. However, Alex enjoyed Morgan’s small quips and comments throughout the movie even more. They found them very endearing, not that they would ever admit that to anyone. After all, they had a reputation to maintain.
They pointedly ignored, that such knowledge wouldn’t even scratch their reputation. Not when it was well known, that on more than one occasion, when a hero had been particularly bothersome, Alex had simply torn off their limbs but purposefully left them alive, so that they could get a laugh out of watching them struggle through rehab. After all, there was a reason for their rank as an S Tier Villain. There was also plenty of reason why they had been called ‘Monster’ more times than they cared to count. Not by Morgan, though. Never by Morgan.

The D Tier Villain was about as far from a Monster as Alex could imagine. They were…kind in a way that barely any Heroes managed to fake. And the people around them noticed and they flocked to them, even if unintentionally and they paid attention to them. When Morgan spoke, the room would grow quiet. Not in the way that Alex commanded the room with fear and an aura of pure power. No, people genuinely wanted to hear what they had to say. It was as simple as that. When Alex had first realized that, they had been baffled. But as they began to spend more time with them, they too found themselves paying rapt attention whenever they heard Morgan speak. How could anyone think that they could ever be a sidekick an be content with that?

Alex was convinced that Morgan’s family had to be blind, dead and stupid all at the same time to not realize what an incredible person they had driven away… Well, in Chad’s case, even his sight and hearing would not be enough to compensate for his truly astounding stupidity.

After all, that moron was still convinced that they had Morgan under some sort of mind control to turn them into a Villain. It just showed how little he knew them. Morgan might be kind, but only to the right people. The others… Well… It should be said, that they remained a D Tier Villain by choice. They were viciously intelligent and could manipulate near anyone they set their mind to. People would dance on their strings, smiles on their faces and happy to be of service to them. However, that was simply no their style or preferred method. They liked to gather information and to plan heists, loved the thrill of a robbery perfectly executed. Sure, they could design and build themselves support gear that could give A Rank Heroes a run for their money, but they weren’t very fond of fighting, so they didn’t. Not that any of the heroes were smart enough to realize that.

They took a small break between the third and fourth movie (they knew beforehand that they wouldn’t sleep tonight) to make more popcorn and to stretch their limbs. It was easy, it was comfortable.
A barely audible hum was on their lips as Alex walked back into the living room, a fresh bowl of snacks in their hands. They paused in their steps, taking in the sight before them. Morgan was leaned back in the soft armchair they were occupying, head tilted back and eyes halfway closed. They seemed to be fully relaxed, their legs stretched out before them and slightly spread. For a moment, Alex was struck by the thought that they would fit between them perfectly. Hastily, they shook their head to get rid of the bothersome image, when the movement seemed to have caught Morgan’s attention. The D Tier Villain send a soft smile their way, one of the kind that was reserved for only Alex.

Oh, they were fucked.
