The first time he saw her was through the dirty window of his shop, the dust and afternoon sun making her look like a chalk drawing, like powder on a hard surface. If he blew on it, she’d float away.
She was rummaging through one of his ice cream freezers. She was always eating ice cream, licking it shyly off the cone, biting small chunks and letting them melt on her tongue. Her fingers were always a little sticky and sweet with it.
