Chapter Text
“Ah!” a blue-haired girl yelped as she was knocked into the dirt by Katsuki Bakugo.
“That’s what you get for looking down on me!” He screamed as he walked on, continuing his day with his lackeys following him. The girl struggled to get up as she observed the burn mark on her upper arm.
“That damn Bakugo.” Said an approaching voice. She looked in its direction to find a boy with green hair that was a bit scruffy but combed over the right side of his face, covering his right eye. He wore a uniform from Aldera High School and was fairly tall. “He and his inferiority complex get too many people hurt.” He held out his hand to help the girl up. She took it and stood up. “No one will punish him for it, either, it’s frustrating.” The boy said. “Do you need any help with that burn?” He asked. The girl shook her head.
“No, thank you. I appreciate it, though.” She tried to smile, but the burn was making it difficult.
“Well, you should probably head to the hospital, or at least get a first aid kit.” He pulled out a card and a pen and wrote on the card. “Please, tell me if he tries to hurt you again, I seem to be the only one willing to keep him in check.” The girl took the card and saw that he put his phone number on it, with a little heart near it. “I’ll be going now.” He smiled at her as he began heading in the same direction as Bakugo. The girl watched him, curiously, before looking again at the card.
“Black-Leg Izuku.” It said.
My Hero Academia
Black Leg
Izuku Midoriya walked briskly toward his destination, Aldera High School, with a goofy smile on his face.
“She was cute.” He said under his breath. His expression then turned to anger as he approached the school. He tried to keep calm as he walked to class, but other students could see his rage. He finally got to his homeroom and saw Katsuki Bakugo sitting in his seat, his feet up on the table and his eyes closed. He wasn’t asleep, but he would definitely get angry if anyone disturbed him. Izuku sat at his own desk, staring at Bakugo and waiting for a reason to knock him down a peg. Eventually, the homeroom teacher stood up in front of the class with a stack of papers.
“Well, I should probably give you your career aptitude tests, but,” He began before throwing the papers in the air. “You all wanna go the hero route, don’t you?” He asked the class, who cheered and showed off their quirks. All except Izuku and Bakugo.
“Hey, teach!” the annoying blonde yelled. “Don’t lump me in with the rest of these rejects.” The other students raged at him before the teacher spoke up.
“Oh yeah, you’re going for U.A. aren’t you, Bakugo?” Bakugo jumped onto his desk and bragged about passing the mock test or something Izuku couldn’t have given a crap about. “Oh, right, Midoriya is going for U.A. as well, right?” Bakugo’s neck nearly snapped and how hard he spun his head toward Izuku.
‘Here we go.’ Izuku thought, internally smirking. Bakugo sped to Izuku and caused an explosion on his desk.
“Deku! You’re nothing compared to me! How dare you try to stand next to me. I’m gonna be the best of the best. There’s no room for a damned fry cook there!” Izuku stood up and grabbed Bakugo’s wrist.
“Call me a fry cook one more time and we’ll see how ‘the best of the best’ feels getting laid out.” He calmly told Bakugo. He then dodged an explosion from the other hand and grabbed that wrist as well. He then headbutted Bakugo’s skull, causing him to stumble back quite a bit. “And that’s for the girl you attacked on the way to school.”
The rest of the school day, Bakugo was surprisingly quiet. The day came to an end just as quietly and Izuku began walking to the grill. He approached the overpass he passed every day and walked on to do just the same as always and walk underneath it. As he passed a manhole, however, he heard a rumbling from underground. He turned around to see the manhole cover burst off and a large mass of green sludge coming out of it.
“Ah, look!” Came a voice from the sludge as eyes and a mouth formed into a grin in the sludge. “A perfect meat suit!” Before Izuku could make any move to defend himself, the villain lunged toward him and restrained him. It then attempted to force itself inside Izuku’s mouth in an attempt to take over his body.
‘Damn…It can’t…end like this!’ He thought as consciousness began to leave him. As he began to blackout, he heard a familiar voice shout.
“Texas Smash!” The slime was dispersed into pieces that flew everywhere, and Izuku saw a giant of a man with blonde hair as he passed out.
As Izuku woke up, he felt something hit his face repeatedly. He opened his eyes to see that it was All Might slapping him in order to wake him up. Izuku was still groggy when All Might stopped.
“Ah, thought I’d lost you there!” His booming voice said before he laughed his trademark laugh. Izuku got up slowly and took in his surroundings. He was just out from under the overpass. He noticed in All Might’s pockets two bottles, each containing part of the villain.
“Are you sure that’s a safe place to keep him?” Izuku asked, pointing at the bottles.
“Of course!” All Might responded. Izuku stood up.
“It’s an honor to meet you, All Might!” He said, his enthusiasm growing as he realized what was going on. All Might laughed once more.
“Thankfully, I was chasing this guy. If I were a minute later you might’ve died!” He said, grimly, which Izuku thought was odd considering All Might’s ever-present smile.
“Yeah…” Izuku said, warily, before throwing caution to the wind. “Can I get an autograph?” He asked with stars in his eyes. All Might’s smile widened, somehow.
“Check your English notebook.” He said, before turning around and jumping off to wherever he was needed next. Izuku smiled in that direction before digging into his bag and confirming that All Might had, indeed, signed his English book. He was about to continue his walk to the grill, before he spotted smoke in the distance, followed by a faint explosion. Izuku wouldn’t have thought much of it, however, he knew the explosions that began to get louder and louder. They were Bakugo’s. Izuku ran toward the explosions and weaved in and out of people who were wondering what was going on.
Soon, he found a crowd being held back by Backdraft, a rather new hero. He looked on and saw Kamui Woods and Death Arms, two more fairly new heroes, trying their best to get close and ultimately failing. He then looked at the epicenter and saw the sludge villain from before, holding someone captive, and he didn’t even need to see to know who it was. “That damn Bakugo!” Izuku yelled before activating his quirk. His fireproof pants and shoes took the heat when he launched himself over the crowd and toward the captor/captive duo. The heroes screamed at him for going for the villain, but Izuku tuned them out. He spun in the air and came down on the villain’s eyes with an ax kick. He felt his lower leg catch fire as he jumped off of the villain and headed for Bakugo.
“You dumbass! Couldn’t keep yourself out of trouble for five minutes!” Izuku said as he grabbed Bakugo and began dragging him out of the sludge. The villain woke up about halfway through the process and then a tug of war contest threatened to begin. The villain, unfortunately, had a different idea. He rose a tendril of sludge above his head and slammed it down. As the dust began to clear, he heard a familiar voice.
“How shameful of me. Letting children do my work for me!” Soon enough, the number one hero was visible, and he grabbed the two kids and put them behind him. “Texas Smash!” All Might yelled as he punched the sludge villain so hard it split into an uncountable amount of pieces.
As the whole event died down, Izuku was pseudo-praised, being told not to do what he did, but also being told that he did a great job. Bakugo was praised, and All Might was being interviewed, so Izuku took off. As he made his way home, he dialed up the grill to tell them he wasn’t coming in that day. Suddenly, before he could press the call button,
“I AM HERE!” All Might appeared in front of him, coming from a nearby road.
“All Might! I thought you were caught up in interviews!” Izuku said, shocked.
“It was easy to escape because I am All-” All Might’s bragging was cut off by him spitting up blood and shrinking to a skeleton of a man.
“All Might!” Shouted Izuku. He took in the view in front of him. “You’re not All Might.”
“I assure you, I am. I saved you from the sludge villain under an overpass earlier today.”
“B-but, what happened? Did a villain do this to you?”
“Yes. It was about five years ago.”
“Toxic chainsaw?” Izuku asked.
“Wow, you know your stuff.” All Might said. He then lifted his shirt to reveal a giant scar where the lower left half of his torso should have been. “That punk got a few good hits, but nothing I couldn’t shake off.” Izuku gasped at the wound. “This villain is one that no one knows about these days. And I intend to keep it that way. I can only do three hours of hero work a day these days.” He lowered his shirt and let the facts sink into Izuku’s head. “Young man, today, you showed more heroism than any of the heroes at that attack. Even me. If you hadn’t intervened, I wouldn’t have found it in me to push myself beyond my limits and save you both.” All Might smiled at Izuku. “You want to be a hero, right, kid?” Izuku nodded. “I have an offer for you. I would like you to inherit my quirk.” Izuku’s face displayed his confusion.
“Before you overthink this, I’m not forcing this on you. If you don’t want it, you don’t have to take it. However, the heroism I saw from you made me realize you were worthy. Now, would you like to inherit my power?” All Might held out his hand. Izuku smiled.
“How could I pass up an offer like that?” He took All Might’s hand.
“Father, I have received news from Akemi about the target.” Said a boy with short, spiked, black hair. He knelt in front of a chair faced toward many screens.
“Don’t worry, my son. I have seen it. It seems he is progressing nicely. It seems the time may be coming when we give him his first test.” The chair turned around to reveal a man in a business suit. He had curly black hair and light blue eyes with freckles on each cheek that resemble upside-down triangles. He began to cough and fire came out of his mouth. “Do not tell Mikumo about this. It will only anger him. He needs to focus on his training.” The chair turned back around. “Good work today, Ryuji. You are dismissed.”
